Just to take you with me on what would happen to be my "hair removal journey" number 50, I thought I'd update on how this misery has gone for the past year...
OK, this time last year I mentioned that I was just starting out with my hair removal system from Verseo. Well, quick update: HUGE disaster, rip-off, crap, no good piece of junk, bullshit method of removing hair! Those are just a few things that come to mind when I am reminded of my huge waste of Christmas money which, for your information was given to me by my mother and I stupidly blew most of it on a Verseo kit to remove hair. Well, thanks a lot Verseo your products suck ass! I'm not trying to be discrete here. Now, moving on...
So Verseo was my first experience other than wax, shaving and the regulars. I remember when it arrived. I was sick, deadly sick with some awful thing that the whole family had. It looked like our house had been abandoned after some huge blow-out party. It was like death here. For weeks. Anyways, I peeled myself out of bed to use the piece of crap. My love kindly plucked the hairs from my crotch (excuse my bluntness) while I screamed and tears rolled down my cheeks. I wrote it off as my pain tolerance being low due to being sick.
For the next 3 sessions, I held it in as long as I could and about 30 minutes into it I'll be honest, I cried my eyes out! The plucking is necessary to remove the hairs or Verseo won't work. Well having your cooter hairs plucked after being shocked on your cooter is not something that's pleasant anyways.
I finally got used to the plucking and have done it ever since. My entire girly region gets plucked one by one. No hair left behind! I ditched that piece of shit, rip-off disaster machine from Verseo and went for other methods. I have actually been using Kalo, a hair inhibitor for around 7 months now. I am not sure how successful it is yet, but it's at least better than Verseo. To use the inhibitor, the hair has to be totally removed from the follicle first i.e. waxing, plucking. So I tried sugar waxing and it's extremely tough. Not because it's painful, but because it's super hard to use and it takes hours to remove just a few hairs. I'm left with at least half the hairs. Maybe it's the sugar I'm using?
While using Kalo and waxing, I was about to just accept that there is truly no way to permanantly stop hair. But there was still one option that kept lingering around in the back of my head. Epilating. I wanted to try it, but did not want to waste more money on hair removal shit and I honestly was extremely skeptical.
I eventually decided I wanted to give epilating a shot, but was afraid I wouldn't be able to handle the pain. So I spent another several months making sure I was used to the daily plucking and I finally bought an epilator last month! I went with the Chic Emjoi because let's face, it, I'm a cheapie and after reading reviews didn't see a reason to spend $100 on a eplilator when I could get what seemed to be a darn good one for $35-40. I got the Chic Emjoi which I paid, I believe $43 for at CVS. Oh and I have to mention, I also picked up my highlight shampoo "pantene blond expressions) for only $1 whereas it's usually $7! Hell yea!
Now, about the epilator. Turns out it worked even better than I ever imagined and it didn't hurt a fraction as much plucking with tweezers! I really love it and the price is actually a darn good one for the quality.
I can't really compare the Chic Emjoi to others since I've only used this one, but I really don't understand paying over $80 for one when this one works so well.
Now this isn't really a review like what I usually do. It's only a brief... description I guess along with a few points of what I like about this epilator. If anyone could find this useful.
- It is rechargable.
- The price is about as cheap as you can get for an epilator. There are a couple under $40, but while reading tons of reviews on them, I wasn't convinced it would be very good quality at all.
- It also comes with a shaver head which can be attached.
- Comes with a nice, but cheap pouch to hold the epilator, charger and accessories which comes in real handy. I would lose the cleaning brush, shaver attachment and charger if I didn't have the pouch to keep everything together. It is a simple drawstring pouch and doesn't stay closed. Also, it's low quality and tears easily so making your own or just using a cosmetics bag is a good idea, but until then I'm happy to have that pouch.
- While it is easy to use and works well, leaving little to no hairs, it's freaking loud! It sounds like an electric razor. Most women would prefer minimal noise, but for the price and quality I can't complain too horribly much. This can be heard all throughout the house except for in the room farthest from my bathroom.
- Almost painless! At first I thought it was not working because I couldn't feel the hair being pulled! The only way I knew hair was being pulled out was because I could see them on the epilator. Full hairs, shaft and all!
As for now, this has been the best solution for me. I use Kalo right after epilating to "inhibit growth of hair". Even 7 or so months into using Kalo I am still unsure how or if it is even working. I will update when and if something does happen with it though. It seems there are a smaller amount of hairs, but not enough to actually be sure that Kalo's working.
