Earth Minerals Foundation Sample Video Review

I've been experimenting with the Earth Minerals Foundation by Annmarie Gianni sample kit for a few weeks now, so I thought I'd share some photos of the kit, and how the foundations look.

I hope you'll also take the time to watch the video review above (apologies for the abrupt ending. My camera died right near the end, so I didn't make a PT.2 since it was so close to the end.)

Me wearing the "honey" shade of Earth Minerals Foundation

In my palm is the "Pearl" shade of Earth Minerals foundation and on my upper arm is "Olive." The darker shade seen on my wrist is "Honey" and beside it, the lighter shade is "Pearl," the same one in my palm.

Inside the sample kit -- the herbal facial oil and 4 shades of mineral powder (honey, sand, olive, and pearl)
Wearing the Olive shade from the Earth Minerals Foundation Sample Kit

Closer-up wearing the shade "Olive" Earth Minerals Foundation

Another shot of me in different lighting, wearing the shade "Olive." Turns out, I like this shade the most and have been wearing it for the last couple of weeks. It's a bit darker than sand and honey -- both of which were a tiny bit pale on my skin, although at the beginning, when I judged the shades on my wrist, I thought the Olive shade and the Honey shade looked way too dark for me. Turns out, my wrist is far paler than my facial skin! I think Olive suits my tone the most, don't you?
This is the "Sand" shade. Not as dark on my face as it showed on my wrist, but a smidgen darker than Olive. Once I've had a little sun on my skin, I think Sand will work out just as perfectly for my color as Olive does.

It doesn't appear that there are any shades darker than these in the Earth Minerals collection, and I do hope they are able to add darker shades to the line. If your skin is significantly darker than mine (I typically match the medium shades of most every brand of foundation) then all of these in the Earth Minerals line may be too light for you.

Conclusion

Overall, I have become increasingly fond of this makeup. It took some experimenting with the various shades as well as with how much oil to powder ratio was just right every day, but I have become so fond of this that it's my absolute #1 favorite foundation ever.

I found that the lighter shades did kind of look cake-y on me, but once I used the olive shade for a few days, I liked it more and more. It gives me the perfect coverage. With all the breakouts and scarring I've accumulated over the last year (which has left me a bit devastated over my skin's appearance), it improved how I felt immensely. To be able to cover them so well without the many cons that most foundation has (further breakouts, harmful ingredients, etc.), felt amazing to me.

I especially love that as long as I use the correct oil to powder ratio, I can actually look at my face in the mirror and feel happy about it.

I have used too much oil quite a few times, which some of my photos show, but even then, it's better than the flaking that I commonly have as a result of using most foundations on my combination skin. Especially since I've been working on clearing away the breakouts and scarring on my cheeks, which leaves the area really dry and flaky. I'm happy that even with combo skin, I can have the best of both worlds -- not extremely oily, but not dry and flaky.

Most people with combo skin like me know that you usually have to trade one for the other -- either oily areas or dry ones, and foundation often enhances both of those cons. That is probably what I'm the happiest about with this foundation -- that I get a decent balance and never have dry flakes showing and even with it being oil, it still leaves my forehead less shiny than my other foundations.

I have found that as I've gotten used to mixing the foundation up and wearing it more regularly, I can apply it fairly quickly and without taking a lot of time to perfect. It absorbs perfectly and super quickly! I don't have to spend hardly any time rubbing it in or blending it with a brush. I can actually achieve my preferred result with less time than it takes using my drugstore foundations because they require a lot of blending and rubbing in.

Of course the all-natural, all-safe ingredients makes me feel so much better about wearing foundation. I hated applying harmful ingredients to my skin, just to cover the "flaws" and having that awful knowing that I'm still doing damage while trying to cover damage! That felt so bad.

Needless to say, I'm unusually satisfied with the Earth Minerals foundation. I would love to toss every other foundation I own and use nothing but this forever. I love that no matter what, I always end up happy with the result after applying, even if I do it in a hurry, even when my skin is looking its worst -- I'm always satisfied with the end result.

To give you a rating to go by, I give this foundation a 5/5 rating.  It's perfect.

I never recommend foundation makeup because there are so many differences between every person's skin, but I feel pretty comfortable saying that I would recommend this to anyone who wears foundation and wants a safe ingredient foundation that will work well for combination skin.

*You can find the sample kit here. You can also get a bigger sized bottle of any of the colors.

Glacial Mud Sample Kit Review

Sample box of Alaskan Glacial Mud Co.'s face mud

I received this cute sample kit of Alaskan Glacial Mud Co's Purifying Glacial Mud Masque. Let's take a look at what's inside the sample kit...

Inside the kit is 3 sample packets of Alaska Glacial Mud -- the "Relaxing Vanilla," the "Unscented," and the "Lavender Peppermint" -- and an application brush.
A close-up along with the informational paper

The mud masques are made with "mineral-rich, pure glacial clay from the waters of Copper River Delta in Alaska and enriched with a special combination of certified organic and wildcrafted botanical extracts from the Pacific Northwest." The mud also contains 60 trace elements, which are delivered to the skin for healthy skin cell regeneration.

The Lavender-Peppermint and Vanilla Lavender are very similar in scent. In fact, I found that all three masks seemed to be pretty much the same as far as how they look, feel, and "work" goes.

The only real difference I noticed was that the peppermint one had more of a neat cooling effect when applied to my skin. Each of the three different muds were magnificent and felt pleasant on my skin.

The mud masques have a perfectly fine, gritty texture for exfoliating away dead skin and dirt.
My skin was left feeling cool, and deeply cleansed. Using the masques is a really pleasant and relaxing experience and I looked forward to every shower.

The masque is fairly gentle, especially since the grit is so fine and does such a great job at removing dead skin cells and impurities. I love the exfoliation this mud provides, but find that with my combination skin, it's best not to use it too roughly on my skin everyday. I like using it to gently massage my face every other day so that I don't over-do it and cause the dryness of my combo-skin to become a bit dryer.

However, I do feel like this mud is great for all skin types, including combo-skin as long as you don't get carried away and scrub harshly, which some people with dry skin tend to like doing because we get confused and think the rougher we scrub, the better our skin will be.

Keeping in mind that rough-scrubbing is bad, this is the most pleasant mud I've ever used on my face and I love how soft and smooth my skin is after using.

I also like that it does remove some of the extra dry flakes while helping balance out the overly-oily T-zone area.

The Alaska Glacial mud masques are the perfect addition to my daily routine and I feel like they cleanse my skin so deeply and thoroughly that I don't even require soaping it up first. In fact, cleansing with soap first and then using this felt like overkill as the mud cleans very well.

This mud is also gentle on sensitive skin and contains no irritants, only safe, effective, and healthy ingredients (my favorite thing about it!)

Active Ingredients:
Glacial clay and silt - exfoliating and detoxifying natural deposit with more than 60 nourishing major and trace elements, including Mg, Cu, Z, S, Ag, Si, Ca, Na, K and Fe that promote anti-aging, help skin hold moisture and form collagen resulting in radiant skin.Certified organic and wildcrafted botanical extracts including kelp, nettle, horsetail, elderflower, yarrow, cranberry, blueberry and vitamins e and b5.

Talk about amazing ingredients, huh? I loved using these muds, knowing that they were not only detoxifying and cleansing my skin, but also delivering very healthy and beneficial vitamins and nutrients and minerals.

I have to say, I'm impressed with the awesome ingredients Alaskan Glacial Mud Company chose to include because I feel like it's so necessary to give your skin the vitamins, minerals and nutrients the rest of the body needs and it's so rare to find skincare products that will take care of every bit of your skin's needs.

I feel confident that using the mud was basically taking full care of my skin and that was amazing. Not having to spend an hour a night adding all sorts of extra products to my skin, knowing the mud basically did it all was really gratifying.

Benefits:

 -  Anti-Aging
-Contains "immuno-protective properties"
- Moisturizing
- Detoxifies
- Exfoliates
- Softening
 - Allergy-free
- Safe on sensitive skin, non-irritating
 -Human-tested
No synthetic fragrances, colors or fillers. No propylene glycol, no pthalates or parabens

- No animal by-products or testing
- Sustainably hand-carved glacial mud

- 10% profits donated to wilderness preservation, habitat restoration, environmental defense and education in the Copper River Watershed.
To sum it up, I could absolutely use this mud on a regular, even daily basis and feel confident and comfortable that my skin's needs are being fully met, and in a healthy, safe way!

NeoCell Biotin Bursts

Biotin Bursts are biotin and antioxidant-packed soft chews in the flavor of acai. These tiny, yet powerful and perfectly tart and delicious chews are the best way to consume biotin, in my opinion as they really do the trick on my candy cravin' sweet tooth. Not only that, but I'm pretty sure with each bite-sized chew, my hair, nails and skin will be improving. Talk about a tasty treat that really doesn't come with any guilt!

I was given the awesome opportunity to try the Biotin Bursts by Neocell earlier this week. Each small, individually wrapped "burst" contains a whopping 25 milligrams of acai fruit powder, which delivers a beautiful supply of antioxidants to the body, and a huge 10,000 micrograms of readily absorbable biotin. Note: Some online sources claim that we should "aim" for 30 micrograms of biotin in our daily diet, so consuming 10,000 micrograms in these chews tells me I'm going to be plenty sufficient in this beautifying vitamin.

What is Biotin?

Biotin is called "Vitamin H" by most, but is actually considered a B-Vitamin, strangely enough.

Why I Like The Biotin Bursts
Aside from getting to indulge daily in a tasty little chew, similar to a Starburst as my nephew put it (but way easier on the teeth, and even more flavorful) the biotin supplement is actually highly beneficial in the beauty department -- particularly skin, hair and nails.

The effect biotin has on hair is described as "luxurious hair and vibrant skin." It's also been touted for its ability to strengthen brittle nails, which is something I've had for years.

Neocell's Biotin Bursts are "scientifically formulated to support metabolism of proteins in the body, promoting natural energy," too. It also has a positive effect on the nervous system.

I've even heard of biotin being helpful in weight loss, in some cases.

Consuming biotin can be useful in conditions such as eczema, thinning hair, seborrheic dermatitis, and it may help promote hair growth. Biotin is said to be useful even in cases of depression! This is another reason I was highly intrigued by this H-Vitamin once I learned about it from Neocell.

*Biotin for yeast infections?

I wanted to update this article as I just read something very interesting in a Live Strong article regarding another possible benefit of using biotin -- yeast infections!  An overgrowth of candida albicans is the cause of a yeast infection, and also the cause of candidiasis, sometimes IBS too (which was my case.)

Interestingly, I was checking more into biotin just now when I read the following excerpt:

"There are certain situations when very high dosages of biotin can aid in medical treatment. For example, biotin 5000 mg can aid in treating yeast infections such as Candida albicans, so that it does not develop from its yeast-like state into a fungal form, as discussed by FungusFocus and altMD's Encyclopedia of Alternative Medicine."

Before I go on, let me just say, my understanding of the above statement is that biotin can keep the candida albicans from continuing to "grow" until they get out of control. When they say "so it doesn't develop from its yeast-like state into a fungal form," I am taking that to mean simply they remain under control and do not "over-grow" leaving the body with an "infection."

So, it turns out, that my taking this high dose of biotin in the Biotin Bursts happens to possibly come with an incredible added benefit that I didn't even know about! Most of you know that I suffered severely with IBS-Candidiasis for the majority of my late-teen/early-adult years. I won't go into that story again, but I find it really awesome that there are more things we can do to keep this sometimes debilitating problem under control. I know some of my readers were told by their doctors the same things I was told -- that the pain was "in your head" and that you'd never again live without it. There's no cure, so all you can do is continue taking prescribed medications. This was my "fate" according to my own doctor after having surgery for part of my problem -- endometriosis. My fate included a prescription of drugs that further debilitated me really because at the recommended dosing, I would've only had 2 hours maximum out of my bed every single day of my life! Zombie drugs. I never did take the recommended amount as 2 alone kicked my butt for a full 24 hours.

Anyways, I promised I wouldn't get into that story again. Why do you guys let me do this?

So, I wanted to put this information about biotin at higher doses possibly being helpful for candida issues out there for my fellow sufferers. Whether it's your gut that's being tormented by candida albicans or your genitals or elsewhere, I think biotin could be something to keep in mind.

That also brings me to the fact that last month I was dealing with one of those pesky female yeast infections myself! It was one of the worst I've ever suffered from, and kind of came out of nowhere. I of course used the natural, home remedy to take care of it (the same ones I've published here and elsewhere), but how awesome it is to know that using this biotin supplement may provide some added help in that area.

Keep in mind, it's been said that people with kidney problems should not use biotin supplements. I have no idea why that is or if there's anything to it, but I thought I might should point that out since I know at least one of my heavy readers do suffer with kidney issues.

In the image above, you can see the individually wrapped chews.

Why I Adore Neocell:
"NeoCell has been developing and manufacturing all natural, premium anti-aging formulas for over 20 years and is the leading Collagen brand in the world. Our products are naturally based, not synthetic, and are designed to promote youthful health, beauty and total body wellness. We manufacture our own products using carefully sourced food-grade raw materials and our facility exceeds all GMP standards. We strive to continuously bring the best to our customers– products that we and our own families are proud to use, made with Nutrients You Can Trust®."

As you can see on the packaging of the Biotin Bursts, Neocell products do not contain Soy, GMO's Palm oil or gluten! Let's hear it for all healthy ingredients!

Results of taking Biotin Bursts:

Since I'm only about a week into taking the 30-day supply of these Biotin chews from NeoCell, I can't attest entirely to the results. I'd like to give the product enough time to really do its job (30 days), so I will update periodically as I see results, including after the 30 days. I almost waited to even do a review until 30 days had passed with me taking the supplement, but I was too excited to hurry and get the exciting word out about them, so I hope you'll check back for any results I end up seeing while using them!

At the moment, my nails are somewhat brittle, with vertical lines galore! They're easily bent, not thick. After 30 days of using the Biotin Bursts, I'll take a look and see if they have changed, which would be really exciting to see!

So far though, my hair very possibly could be showing signs of becoming shinier! Hopefully, I see a big change within my skin, too. I have had the best skin I've seen in years this week, which is overly exciting considering I've only been taking the Biotin Bursts this week! My skin literally looks great to me, and that's something I haven't felt in ages. In fact, before the past week, I hated what was going on with my skin. It looked awful with breakouts and dry flakes no matter what I done to fix them. I've actually had very little reason to even put on moisturizer the last few days! So, if this sudden clearing of my skin problems is in fact due to the Biotin Bursts, you can bet your sweet behind I will continue using them for the long term!

Check back to see my progress!

Pineapple Lime Tropical Body Butter

                     - Pineapple Lime Tropical Body Butter -

This one, of course I totally love, but I'm so fond of the scent. I've had the same love for all of the Hawaiian Body Products, but I'm a little extra happy with this one. I really am a fan of lime and pretty much anything tropical scented, but this one seems to be the one I tend to go for most often.

It's amazingly hydrating and as the others do, it also leaves a lingering scent of  lime and pineapple all over the body that lasts all day. The scent reminds me a lot of a Pina Coloda. That is my favorite type of drink ever! I am obsessed with the stuff and apparently just as obsessed with the body butter as well.

It's so thick, creamy and rich. By the time I used this Pineapple Lime Body Butter, I already expected it to be wonderful and it was even better than expected. Of course it didn't leave any greasy residue or sticky-ness. It did leave me extra smooth.

Works wonders for softening and bringing a beautiful glow to skin. It was also very soothing for razor burn. I'm so silky!

Bath Buzz Caffeinated Shower Gel

You guys remember Chemical Evolution and my posts on their butt-kickin' energy products that I've tried, right? If you haven't, I'll brief you. I've shown you my lovely energy stash, supplied by Chemical Evolution and shared everything about the products I've tried from there. But, there's still one more thing...

I even take a small piece of Chemical Evolution with me when I...

Bathe! That's right. These guys at Chemical Evolution didn't dare expect a girl to have all this tasty energy candy and gum, only to leave her empty handed while she bathes!

So, I present to you, Bath Buzz, the Caffeinated Shower Gel! Just think of it as this:

This is me while using  Bath Buzz (for get relaxation and bubble baths!):

Ha. Ha! Kidding. That's a cat, silly. It's caffeinated shower gel, not an LSD infused bubble bath! Although, I can't imagine a more entertaining bath experience... Back to topic!

So, Bath Buzz is an awesome shower gel that contains caffeine. And you thought you were Mr. Caffeine consumer of the year didn't you? Shame on you for ever giving yourself such a title, unless you happen to consume your cup of coffee while soaking up the bubbles in a caffeinated bath, then you, my friend, deserve the title Mr. Caffeine Consumer of the Year. Otherwise, step aside.

Okay, crazyiness aside. Bath Buzz Caffeinated Shower Gel really is not only awesome for its novelty-ness and because it's so damn gift-worthy, but it actually does make a fantastic bubble bath. With serious bubble-action, too. I realize it's called "shower gel," and I enjoy using it in the shower, too, but I was even happier to see that it worked wonderfully as a bubble bath too.

The Caffeinated Shower Gel contains as much caffeine as a whole cup of coffee!

But isn't a waste of precious caffeine to put it in your bath water when you could be consuming it?

I wondered the same thing... when I was 5! Kidding. I'm sorry. I have a mean streak today. It's really unlike me, so please bear with me. I'm only joking, for Pete's sake.

But I learned that caffeine actually can be absorbed through our biggest organ (no, not that organ!), the skin!

So it does still benefit you, even if you don't pour it down the shoot. It'll have basically, the same effect -- make you more alert and energized, just like it does when you drink it, although I'm unsure if having your cup of joe for breakfast vs. bathing in it would effect you more, less or the same.

It feels to me, as if perhaps I drank a slightly weak cup of coffee. That's probably just because the coffee I drink, I fix myself and I fix it strong. So to someone who's used to McDonald's green bean juice coffee that's however strong it is, this will probably provide you with an even bigger energy boost.

Who knows? You might even end up cleaning the shower walls before you ever even get out of the tub.

I'll get all energetic in my bath and spend forever in there when I'm using this Bath Buzz Shower Gel!

By the time I get out, I'm all shiny and new, and wondering what the hell made me decide to shave all of my legs this time instead of just half of them.. Or actually both of them instead of just one. What can I say, I don't always finish what I start.

The Caffeinated Shower Gel was actually created to wake your ass up. It's been proven that scents such as rosemary and peppermint do stimulate your mind and give it a boost, and those are two ingredients in the Bath Buzz Caffeinated Shower Gel. It contains Peppermint and Rosemary essential oils, so it's not the old artificial scented crap that probably wouldn't work. It's the real deal.

Bath Buzz Caffeinated Shower Gel also contains one of my most favored ingredients in everything from food to every single skincare product I use -- aloe vera! Aloe Vera has a lot of benefits (even if you don't eat it). It's soothing and moisturizing.

Plus, aloe is a natural antibacterial, anti-fungal and more! The Caffeinated Shower gel also contains Witch Hazel, so you aren't sacrificing cleanliness for a good Bath Buzz.

The strong, minty aroma of the Caffeinated Shower Gel makes bathing a pleasant experience. It actually is a nice, clean and refreshing smell, although the smell of coffee all over my skin really would not bother me, either. Good news is, you don't walk around smelling like a big hefty peppermint after bathing. The scent fades.

I really don't want to bore you guys (some people say when I list ingredients and go into extremely deep detail about what each ingredient does, it's boring), but I think ingredients are important, so I'm going to list them. And please don't hunt me down and do awful things to me (like steal my caffeinated shit). Simply scroll the f#!$ down and read other parts of this fantastic post. I mean, I'm not gonna force nobody to know the ingredients in somethin' or anything.

Ingredients:
Deionized water, Sodium laureth sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, cocamide DEA, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, Hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) distillate, Chamomilla flower extract, citric acid, sodium chloride, phenoxyethanol, ethyhexylglycerin, hexylene glycol, carpylyl glycol, FD&C Blue #1, FD&C Yellow #5.

Fundamental Natural Skin Lotion from Earth Turns *Review*

Recently, I have had the amazing opportunity to try a few products available at Earth Turns, who happen to be a very friendly company that carries a variety of high quality products like supplements and natural/herbal products, and even a beauty department. All of the products Earth Turns carry are manufactured under Current Good Manufacturing Process Standards and are natural, safe and effective. Before I get into the review for the Fundamental Natural Skin Lotion,  I wanted to take a second to include that Earth Turns has an A+ BBB rating, and at the moment, they're doing free shipping for  US orders! You really can't beat free shipping these days.

The Fundamental Natural Skin Lotion is also part of the line I've come to love, available at Earth Turns.

The Fundamental Natural Skin Lotion contains all natural and organic ingredients that are intensely moisturizing, totally safe and effective for maintaining healthy skin.  And I absolutely love this lotion. I have to say, after using a couple of sample packets, it ended up being a favorite of mine, and I was quite sad to use the last bit. The Fundamental lotion has been the best lotion for my skin. I could use it before makeup application just fine. It didn't mess with my acne, which was flared up at the time I was using the lotion. If anything, my skin was improving quickly. Even as a light weight moisturizer, the lotion took nice care of my severely dry areas (forehead, cheeks, nose.)

In fact, I used the Fundamental Lotion all over, and was comfortable trying it on my face since it's natural and non-pore clogging. I loved using it from head to toe (feet, legs, arms, everything was covered in this stuff.) It leaves no sticky or greasy residue behind, which meant I didn't have to run around with an even shinier forehead. I love how soft, smooth and supple it made my skin.

Aloe Vera Gel soothes inflamed skin, is a natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.
Chamomile Extract is an anti-septic and anti-spasmodic that helps heal wounds.
Avocado Oil hydrates and moisturizes.
Coconut Oil intensively moisturizes, is a natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, soothes and protects skin.
Hemp Seed Oil is rich in essential fatty acids, which allows healthy cell production that can improve skin conditions. It prevents premature aging and moisture loss.
Shea Butter provides intense hydration and can minimizes marks and scars.
Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A) reduces wrinkles.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that protects skin from UV damage. It also may help treat scars.
Grapeseed Extract is an anti-septic and anti-inflammatory that may also be helpful for hair loss. GSE contains antioxidants, which help prevent damage and repair previous damage.

What I Love About Fundamental Natural Skin Lotion

  • Cruelty free. Fundamental Earth Products have been approved by Leaping Bunny & PETA as cruelty free.
  • Vegan
  • Good for all skin types
  • Uses aloe vera to soothe and heal.
  • Certified organic

Organic Fundamental Face Cream from Earth Turns *Product Review*

Recently, I have had the amazing opportunity to try a few products available at Earth Turns, which happens to be a friendly company that carries a variety of high quality products like supplements and natural/herbal products, and even a beauty department. All of the products Earth Turns carry are manufactured under Current Good Manufacturing Process Standards and are natural, safe and effective. At this moment, I've been enjoying the pleasure of using a product from there called the Fundamental Face Cream.

Before I get into the review for the Fundamental Face Cream (which I'm loving, by the way), I wanted to take a second to include that Earth Turns has an A+ BBB rating, and at the moment, they're doing free shipping for  US orders! You really can't beat free shipping these days.

What Makes The Fundamental Face Cream so Fantastic
The Fundamental Face Cream is 100% natural and contains organic ingredients, nutrients and antioxidants that fight wrinkles and other signs of aging. This is one of the most important things I look for in a face cream -- it absolutely must moisturize my skin well without leaving too much residue behind, without interfering with any makeup application and lastly, it must have some type of anti-aging properties. Brownie points because it contains my all-time favorite ingredient & remedy for anything -- Aloe vera.

The Fundamental Face Cream does everyone of those things in the most rich & creamy way! I really adore the texture and consistency of this cream. It makes applying it to my skin a real pleasure. I enjoy seeing it almost melt into my skin instantly, like butter and leave a nice, supple appearance behind.

Aloe vera soothes inflamed skin, promotes healing and is a natural anti-bacterial.

Organic Cacao Seed and Shea butter provide intense hydration and Cacao Seed butter protects and conditions skin. Shea butter has antioxidant properties, can reduce scars and other marks. It contains Vitamins A & E, and can help reduce UV radiation damage.

Organic Soy Lecithin an emulsifier that promotes moisturization.

Organic Rice Bran Extract contains antioxidants, is an anti-inflammatory that prevents aging.

Organic Tremella Mushroom is rich in Vitamin D, can help fill in places where wrinkles form, and improves skin complexion and overall appearance by promoting Hyaluronic Acid production in skin. Moisturizing.

Organic Pomegranate Oil an antioxidant that supports cell function and regeneration. It can improve skin's texture and might help with hyperpigmentation.

Organic Grape seed Oil is an anti-inflammatory that soothes skin. GSE contains antioxidants -- which help prevent damage and repair previous damage,  -- rich in Vitamins C, D, E, and Beta Carotene and essential fatty acids. This ingredient can help minimize scars, prevents acne and definitely prevents aging signs, as it helps restore collagen. It can even help with excessively oily skin by balancing it.

Fundamental Chemical-Free Organic Shampoo Review

I've just had the lovely opportunity to try a few products that are available at Earth Turns, who happen to be a very friendly company that carries a variety of really amazing quality products like supplements and natural or herbal products, and even a beauty department. All of the products Earth Turns carry are manufactured under Current Good Manufacturing Process Standards and are natural, safe and effective. I've recently been trying various samples of their product (like the "Relax Already that I recently reviewed) and this new, chemical-free shampoo.

Before I get into the review for this interesting shampoo, I wanted to take a second to include that Earth Turns has an A+ BBB rating, and at the moment, they're doing free shipping for  US orders! You really can't beat free shipping these days.

Fundamental Shampoo is a chemical & SLS-free shampoo with organic ingredients designed to restore hair's shine and body.

Obviously, as with any natural shampoo, you're going to experience little to no lather. This sometimes means you feel the need to use more product than normal, as I do, so when I dumped an entire hand-full of shampoo in my hair, I was shocked to learn that with the Fundamental Shampoo, that was not necessary! The stuff actually lathers as good as any typical shampoo! So, I kicked myself for wasting so much.

Something I love about Fundamental Shampoo is my hair always smells, feels and looks totally clean, even though I didn't use sulfates to clean it.  The shampoo has a minty scent that does not stay in hair.

I once thought that natural shampoos that did not contain some sort of harsh sulfate couldn't truly clean my hair. I think we've all been kind of brainwashed as to what the real definition of clean is. It seems we've been thinking that "clean" means stripping all of our skin and hair of anything and everything. If any little natural oil was leftover (which cannot be seen when you first wash the hair with Fundamental Shampoo) is considered dirty.

In fact, my hair feels, looks and smells just as clean as when I use the average drug-store shampoo.

Another plus is that the scent of the Fundamental Shampoo is "acceptable" by either gender (male or female.)

After using the Fundamental Shampoo, my hair was different in texture and appearance. It had more fluff/volume than it normally does, which can be a great thing when hair is flat.

My ends, while they appeared a lot fuller than normal (plus!), they felt a tiny bit drier than they do when I use a good leave-in conditioner, but I made sure to use my leave-in the next night when washing my hair with Fundamental Shampoo  & that helped my ends a lot. I normally always use the leave-in since my ends have some damage, but I skipped when I used the shampoo for the first time because I wanted to be sure I could get the best idea of how this shampoo does.

I do want to make it clear that I love this shampoo! I really do. My hair actually felt cleaner than it does with other shampoos, and I have been able to skip a day between washes (I normally do that) without my hair looking oily at all the last day. Very impressive.

Benefits of the Ingredients in Fundamental Shampoo
With ingredients like saponified olive oil and coconut oil, the Fundamental Shampoo is nicely moisturizing for hair, and will help with damage and promote shine.

Ginger extract is a natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, which makes it great for sensitive skin. Ginger extract may also be a useful remedy for hair loss and can make the hair stronger & healthier. Ginger plus olive oil makes a great dandruff remedy, so since the Fundamental Shampoo contains both, it'll be useful for that too.

Honey, a natural anti-bacterial is an all-around amazing ingredient for health in general, which is why I try to consume pure, raw honey at least 5 times a week, daily when I can. As for hair, though, honey may be useful for preventing hair loss since it helps hair to retain moisture, and it's conditioning. It also makes hair shiny.

Comfrey Root Extract is an anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory, too. It also prevents dryness, is full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, and may stimulate hair growth. The plant protein Mucilage in Comfrey is a foaming agent, which gives the Fundamental Shampoo a bit of sudsy-ness, it also softens hair.

Grape Seed Extract is an anti-septic and anti-inflammatory that may also be helpful for hair loss. GSE contains antioxidants, which help prevent damage and repair previous damage.

Rosemary Extract, an anti-microbial and anti-fungal with some scientific evidence showing that Rosemary oil may be able to help with hair growth. Rosemary extract will help soothe any scalp irritation and keep it clean while also preventing dandruff

Burdock Root Extract helps promote healthy scalp and hair. The Vitamin A, Mucilage and essential fatty acid content in Burdock helps nourish and strengthen skin and hair. It can also provide relief from itchy, inflamed and dry scalp problems.

What I Love About the Fundamental Shampoo:

  • Cruelty Free. Fundamental Earth products have been approved by Leaping Bunny & PETA as cruelty free products.
  •  The shampoo contains organic ingredients and vitamins.
  •  Is nourishing to hair
  • Won't damage hair at all as it's free of toxic chemicals, sulfates, parabens, etc.
  • Maintains hair's pH balance.
  • Doesn't dry out scalp

I can't say that I would actually go so far as to totally switch to this shampoo at this moment in my life. Mostly just because at $11 something for a full sized bottle, considering how much shampoo my hair uses, it just wouldn't be affordable right now. However, I have checked around and it appears that it's as much as $5 elsewhere online, so I certainly cannot complain about the $11 price for it at Earth Turns, especially with free shipping on top of it. I would certainly jump all over that offer when my usual budget allows just a bit extra spending, though.
