Somatique Face Cleanser Review

In this review, you'll read about Somatique's Facial Cleanser (Pictured on right). To read about the Stretch Mark Treatment, click here.

You guys may remember my postings on Lady Soma products I'd used (and fallen in love with) a while back. I have had the amazing opportunity to try two newer products from the same folks of the Lady Soma product line. This one is Somatique, and I've been using both their Facial Cleanser and their Stretch Mark Treatment. In this post, I'm going to discuss the Facial Cleanser because I just can't get enough of the stuff! And also because I haven't yet gotten to use the Stretch Mark Treatment for a long period of time, so I won't be posting on it until I've used it long enough to see the full results. Be on the lookout for that post in the future, though, because I already know it's going to be an exciting one (hint: I'm already pretty impressed with the Stretch Mark Treatment).

Now, I don't often spend time writing about a facial cleanser unless there's really something that can be said about it, and let me tell you, with the effective and carefully selected ingredients in the Somatique Facial Cleanser, there is a lot to be said about it. It's good stuff!

In this post, I'm going to go into detail about the ingredients in this Facial Cleanser, so you get a good understanding of why I am so fond of it.   Hint: Ya'll know I adore a facial cleanser that's natural, safe and packed with great skin benefits!
Keep reading to get the whole low-down on the Somatique Cleanser.

Somatique Facial Cleanser is, as the bottle says, a "thorough and gentle cleanser," which is really what most of us want in a facial cleanser. The key is to get those pores well cleaned without completely stripping your face of all its great stuff like the natural, and necessary oils.

And let's face it, some of us have a tough time getting a cleanser that provides us with clean skin while not stripping it down to a face full of flaky, dry skin. Can anybody relate?

For most of my life, I've struggled with my facial cleansers. I've tried it all. And my skin refuses to be laid back and easy going. It wants to be oily in some areas and dry, flaky in others. It wants to break out here and there, and whew! It's exhausting.

I was really fond of the Lady Soma Berry Face Mask I'd used in the past, and still enjoy using from time to time. So when the opportunity to introduce a brand new facial cleanser into my beauty routine came up, I didn't hesitate to try it out. My skin tends to spaz out anytime I introduce it to a new cleanser, but I was all too  happy to go there with the Somatique Cleanser. Are you ready to hear how that has been going for me and my crazy, mood-swinging skin?

My Results Using Somatique Facial Cleanser

Immediately after using Somatique Facial Cleanser, my skin was soft and smooth! That's something I don't feel often, so I was happy when I rinsed off and revealed soft skin that wasn't so dry that it felt tight. That's kind of what I expected simply because I could just feel the great cleansing action happening when I massaged the cleanser on my face.
During the first couple of weeks of using the Somatique Facial Cleanser, I began to see an improvement in my skin's texture (which was awful at the time of starting!) My pores were looking less large, and to my surprise, those blasted dark eye circles that have resulted in so much frustration lately appeared to be looking less... dark and circley!

I didn't expect the facial cleanser to have any affect on those stubborn fellas, so I was nearly awe-struck (that's a word, right?) when I seen them improving. Also because I've literally used every "remedy" you can find for ridding my face of those monsters. I'd even made up a few myself (ahem, peroxide, etc. No, I'm not proud...)

I actually didn't consider that the Somatique Facial Cleanser was the culprit for such improvement until I seen the dark circles continue to improve to the point where I thought it through to figure out what could've changed. Only one thing -- the Facial Cleanser. Even my diet hadn't changed. So I confident-ally tell folks that this cleanser seems to have improved my eye circles.

Aside from that awesome, unexpected benefit, my skin is going through a process of change, it seems. It was really looking rough as far as my texture, complexion and random breakouts of all sorts. It was overwhelming, so it took some time for the Somatique Facial Cleanser to really work through my skin's horrors, but I'm seeing it look more smoother every week.

The breakouts are happening less, too, but I'm still battling a few left-over scars and blemishes, which even those seemed to show some improvements after a week into the Facial Cleanser.

This cleanser is incredible for extremely dry, irritated skin. Since it's packed with many herbs that are so effective in reducing irritation, calming, removing marks, scars, etc, it's an absolute favorite of mine, and is the perfect go-to for all skincare issues. And to really make me fall in love, Somatique went and included well-researched ingredients for serious anti-aging, and also those that have the ability to reduce damage already done to the skin, including signs of aging.

You can read more into the benefits to be had by scanning the "Ingredients" section of this post. There you'll find where I've briefly included the biggest benefits of each ingredient.

Features I Love About Somatique Facial Cleanser:

As if the above results I shared aren't enough to love Somatique Facial Cleanser, there's more!

  • It really is gentle. Many products put that claim on their label, but most of those never failed to still strip my skin dry and leave it flaky. This cleanser from the Somatique line actually is gentle on your skin.

Heavy make-up wearers rejoice! Somatique's cleanser will not fail you. Yes, even your black mascara...
  •  It cleans well. Yes, that's important to note because I've used a few cleansers in my life that did not remove dirt and makeup as well as others. This cleanser is probably one of the most effective cleaners I've used of the natural category. A lot of natural cleansers are great, but don't always have that super cleansing power that some of us rely on.

  •  The ingredients in the cleanser work to help repair your skin and keep it healthy, even after you rinse!

  •  While this doesn't make or break a product or its efficiency, I can't help but love Somatique's Cleanser even more for its awesome scent! It's a completely natural-smelling, light, but herbal scent and I adore it! I could inhale that scent. I wish I could have body spray of that scent. It's just so lovely, refreshing and clean!

  • The ingredients!   Ooh, this is one of the most exciting parts. I love knowing that the ingredients in a facial product are very effective and have so many benefits for my skin. I'll go into detail on that below, for you other ingredient-freaks out there. The Somatique cleanser contains a variety of organic herbs, which is always a major plus to me. Very important!

Ingredients and Their Benefits:

Organic Herbs, Organic Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Decyl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Cocamidopropyl Betaine (from coconuts), Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), MSM, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Carbomer, Amino Acids, Hyaluronic Acid, Wildcrafted Wild Cherry, Wildcrafted Dandelion, Wildcrafted Euphrasia Officinalis (Eyebright), Olive Oil, Organic Rose Hip Oil, Borage Oil, Orange Peel Tincture, Oregano Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Ethyl Hexyl Glycerin.

Firstly, let's start with its high concentration of antioxidants (these guys are a must for folks who want nice, anti-aged skin!) That's something I loved about the Lady Soma berry mask -- the high antioxidant content -- so I was happy to see that this line also uses high amounts.

Most folks already know about antioxidants, so I won't overwhelm you with the information and benefits that come with using them (internally and externally). We know that antioxidants are responsible for not only preventing damage to the skin, but also repairing it, too.

Aloe Vera!

Ya'll know I have to refrain from getting too excited when I talk about healthy, awesome ingredients like aloe. It has been my life-saver in more ways than just skin-related (IBS - candidiasis). Aloe has so many benefits for us, internally and externally. It's soothing to any kind of irritation, it helps heal and has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

 Amino Acid and Hyaluronic Acids
For someone like me with such problematic skin, Hyaluronic acid is good to remove the old dead skin build-up, and helps rejuvenate and encourage new skin cells. This results in a brighter complexion, for one.

Hyaluronic acid (naturally found in skin) helps re-hydrate. It holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water, which means it's incredibly effective in delivering moisture to skin and holding it in there.

HA  protects skin from dirt and pollutants, provides tissue repair, helps skin hold in collagen and elastin, and plays an important role in keeping skin youthful. HA also creates a protective barrier against microorganisms.

Amino acids increase skin's capacity to stay hydrated. They
keep skin strong and healthy. They can help smooth skin and fill in lines/wrinkles, reduce appearance of scars, age spots, stretch marks, etc. They also even skin tone and color, which results in a nicer complexion.

P.S. Taking amino acids internally as well can boost your wrinkle-fighting as it causes an increase in collagen production, so using both the Somatique Cleanser and taking amino acids internally can really enhance your benefits.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is another all-time favorite of mine simply for its many uses. Tea tree oil has been a staple in the medicine cabinet since I was a small child, so I've continued to keep it on hand and take advantage of its benefits throughout my life. Tea Tree oil is used effectively to treat a lot of skin problems including acne,

Like aloe vera (also an ingredient in this facial cleanser), tea tree oil is a potent anti-fungal, antibacterial and anti-viral. As an un-related side note, I've even used tea tree oil to cure yeast infections, and I've discussed how I did that in previous posts.

It kills bacteria, so this is one reason it's so effective in treating acne.
Tea tree oil is a natural skin-toner, and strangely enough, it has the ability to soak up oils! It's an oil that soaks up other oils. This is why tea tree oil can be drying to the skin if used in excess, but that's no issue since it's one of many ingredients in the Somatique cleanser.

Rosehip Oil

Rosehip oil is rich in Vitamin C, and is amazing because it not only repairs damaged skin cells and reduces wrinkles, but is helpful for acne scars, dryness, eczema, burns and more. Rosehip oil is --  like many of the well-researched ingredients Somatique used in this product -- very effective for all sorts of skincare needs. It rehydrates skin

 How it Feels

Check out the Facial Cleanser in the photo above. I know it's not good quality, but I'm still trying to hone my skills with photography, and my camera wasn't loving its job that day.

I hope you can still see it enough to get an idea of the texture/consistency of the Somatique Cleanser. I'm really fond of the super rich, thick, gel-like consistency this has to it. It means that I can use a small drop to thoroughly cover my whole face.

I'm not kidding when I say it's thick! It lathers better than most of my actual body-soaps! It makes for a nice massage on my face and neck, too.

Sea Buckthorn Anti-Aging Moisturizer

You guys remember my in-depth post about Natura-Nutra's awesome Sea Buckthorn Oil and Sea Buckthorn Extract from Herbs Best Nutrition.com? I included as much information in that post about the benefits of Sea Buckthorn and all the amazing nutrients, vitamins, etc. it contains. I encourage you to scan that post if you haven't already to get an idea of what we're working with here. Sea Buckthorn is a powerful little dude, and at this point in my life, I think marriage is just around the corner. Kidding! Ha. I won't marry the lovely Sea Buckthorn.  But seriously, the amazing information that can be told/read/talked about/said about Sea Buckthorn and the benefits it offers is seemingly endless. I've considered even putting it all in a big ol' guide. For now, though, I'm just goint to talk about Sea Buckthorn on a somewhat different level -- for skincare. I'll discuss the benefits and everything, so keep your eyes open.

I've gotten my hands on another Natura-Nutra product, one of the newer products available on Herbs Best Nutrition, and boy am I ecstatic. It's their Sea Buckthorn Anti-Aging Moisturizer.

Natura-Nutra's Sea Buckthorn Anti-Aging Cream is formulated with multiple natural  and herbal ingredients, and is designed to combat dryness and aging.

"It is an optimal synergy of Sea Buckthorn oil, bioflavonoids, squalane, shea butter, and natural vitamin E. Lush nourishing elements penetrate deep into the pores, soothing the tissues and leaving a delicate aroma."
Side of box the Moisturizer comes in

Other side -- the ingredients

Here you can see some photos of the box and the moisturizer in its container. Lovely, right?

Well, even lovelier is the soft skin, the reduction in fine lines and just all around aging skin. Those dark circles under the eyes that hang over you like a dark cloud. Pretty depressing stuff! In my opinion, from what I've read over the last several months, I definitely think that using Sea Buckthorn would be one of the best and most effective approaches (if not the best) to fight crappy skin issues like the signs of aging and such.

What it does for your skin:

-The ingredient Sea Buckthorn Oil extract rejuvenates the skin with natural tocopherol, vitamins, caretenoids and omega fatty acids.

- High-potency Sea Buckthorn bioflavanoids are known for their anti-aging effect.

-Botanically obtaines squalane and shea butter revitalizes skin and protects from sun damage.

- It's enriched with Omega-7 from Sea Buckthorn, which provides structural materials for cellular walls. It also helps smooth out signs of aging and gives skin a youthful glow.

Super close-up!

The Sea Buckthorn Anti-Aging Moisturizer is an amazingly rich, thick moisturizer with a super-creamy like texture. It looks like whipped cream! It's probably the most moisturizing cream I have ever used in my life -- and I'm serious. Upon first applying it, I noticed the super-rich cream and expected to have a greasy residue left on my skin. Every cream I've tried that was rich and moisturizing always seems to leave a trail of greasyness on my skin. So shocked was I when about 8 minutes after generously applying the Sea Buckthorn Anti-Aging lotion to my face and looking in the mirror to see not a shiny, wet-looking face, but a soft, hardly shiny, but pore-minimized complexion!

I apply the Sea Buckthorn Anti-Aging cream at night, after showering. Your skin does most of its healing during the first 3 hours of your sleep, so it made sense to do it at night.

The first things I noticed different about my skin was that it looked bright. Very strange, but good! The next thing I noticed was how tiny my pores looked! They tend to be very large and on occasion, I notice them looking smaller such as when my skin-cleanser is doing its job  (it's very finicky), so I was happy that it looks this way.

Another awesome thing is that I feel like my skin is actually absorbing the moisturizer instead of it hanging out on my skin, which most moisturizers do. It absorbs quickly too, especially to be a rich cream. And it leaves my skin incredibly soft and velvety. Never do I encounter a dry, flaky patch after using this stuff.

The scent
Sea Buckthorn Anti-Aging cream has what I'd call a medium-strength scent to it. It isn't perfumey strong, so it's not something that is overpowering. But I will notice the smell every once in a while up to about 20 minutes after application. It's a nice, slightly sweet, fresh and clean scent.

"Sea Buckthorn is widely used to treat various skin conditions including acne, rosacea, eczema, stretch marks, dermatitis, sunburn, wounds and more. "

The Omega-7 content found in Sea Buckthorn helps the regeneration of skin cells as well as relieves the signs of aging.

PS. I learned something new today  when reading a paper from Natura-Nutra on Sea Buckthorn. Russian astronauts use Sea Buckthorn oil for its strong anti-UV Ray properties!

Ingredients:
Distilled Water (eau), Squalane, hippophae rhamnoides oil (sea buckthorn), butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), betaine, tocopherol acetate (Vitamin E), Rice Bran Extract (ethyhexyl ferulate), Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Extract (carboxymethyl glucan), Lactococcus lactis extract (hyaluronic acid), hippophae rhamnoides extract (Sea Buckthorn flavanoids), sodium benzoate, natural fragrance (Parfum).

The container that houses the Sea Buckthorn Anti-Aging Moisturizer holds 50 grams of the product and believe me, a little bit of it goes a super long way! The first time I used it, I took about a quarter sized amount -- being used to my other moisturizer -- and quickly realized, after my entire face was generously covered, that it didn't take that much at all. So I used the remaining on my arm and even it looked lovely and glowy!

Now, I've come to learn that only a small dime-sized glob is plenty to spread over my entire face, a little more for the neck.

More Reasons Why I Love Natura-Nutra & Their Products

- All Natura-Nutra nutrition supplements carry an NPN number (Natural Product Number). Herb's Best Nutrition operates under the guideline of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

-Natura-Nutra Sea Buckthorn source berries are organic cultivated and hand-picked. Of all the tests conducted, their Sea Buckthorn products are shown to be pesticide free, heavy metal-free and contaminant-free!

- Natura-Nutra Sea Buckthorn Oil is processed using supercritical CO2 extraction technology, preserving the nutrients to the maximum!

-Natura-Nutra is a "green company." In striving to keep the earth "green," they help Sea Buckthorn farmers in dry areas to grow the plants as their source materials. This has turned the barren land back to cultivatable soil. While harvesting nutrient-rich berries, Natura-Nutra is contributing to a greener earth.

It has been shown to be 50 times more powerful than Vitamin E and 20 times more effective than Vitamin C in neutralizing free-radicals. It helps fight visible signs of aging and stabilizes the capillary system, increasing skin's resistance to irritation.
  • The Maritime French Pine Bark Extract ingredient is wonderful for inflamed skin and skin conditions such as rosacea. It can also reduce puffiness and swelling (especially so under my eyes!)

Below is some more amazing information about the even more amazing benefits of the ingredients in the Stunning Serum -- taken from Green Street Lux's product page, which can be viewed here

"Palmaroa stimulates regeneration of the skin cells, Panthenol is absorbed deeply into the skin, it adds essential moisture and has a desirable plumping effect, Silk Amino Acid has excellent moisture binding qualities to condition the skin, Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) is a Potent anti-oxidant (protects skin from oxidative damages e.g. by sun rays), anti-aging effects (improves skin elasticity by enhanced collagen production, avoids hyperpigmentation including age spots, anti-inflammatory & soothing effects, Soy Protein helps bring back a youthful radiance in skin care, Tripeptide-5 increase production of collagen and elastin, Repair scars and wrinkles, Increase circulation, resulting in breathtaking radiance and glow, Experience rapid wound repair, Develop a dewy, supple appearance to skin, Decreased inflammation, Increased efficiency of metabolism, resulting in cellular repair, Repair of the skin, Vitamin E as a topical treatment has been clinically proven to dramatically reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles, smooth rough patches of skin and improve overall."

The Stunning Serum's name is completely suitable -- it is definitely stunning. It's the most amazing serum I have ever put on my face. The very first time I used it, and woke up the next morning, I could not even believe how soft, smooth and beautiful my skin looked. I am completely and totally amazed by this serum! It is a God-send, no doubt.

How to Use the Stunning Serum

As I have said several times now,  was told by Candy from Green Street Luxuries that your skin does the most repairing during the first 3 hours of sleep -- this has been a really helpful tip that I love to continue sharing. Anyways, so it's best to use the Stunning Serum right before bed time for maximum results.

Here is some of what the Green Street Luxuries website has to say about sleep and skin repair "Sleep is when the body produces more proteins, which are the cell’s building blocks. Enhanced protein production ensures proper rejuvenation and revamping of the tissues and cells, which in turn provides vital regeneration and repair to the skin."

So I have been applying the Stunning Serum every night before bed. The first night, I went overboard and applied too much, but found you can dab the excess off after waiting a minute for most of it to absorb, then using a tissue to dab.

I notice there's a sutble aroma to the serum. Nothing that bugs me and it's only noticeable for the first few minutes. It just smells like skincare product. Nothing to worry with. It is somewhat thick, not runny, which is something I appreciate because I like to keep the product out of my hair and off my pillow while sleeping. Since the Stunning Serum is absorbed by skin quickly, it never rubs off onto my pillow or gets in my hair. It dries kind of like a lotion.

The Stunning Serum is kind of creamy. It has a nice consistency so that it doesn't come running off the dropper when you're trying to apply. It's white in color and has tiny little colored flecks of super beneficial ingredients. I wanted to take a photo of the serum in case anybody cared to see it, but I took 13 pictures before giving up! They weren't turning out right -- too much light or something. So I included the Stunning Serum in my video and you may be able to better see it there, if you really care to.

Stunning Serum comes in a nice, dark brown tinted glass bottle with a dropper lid, which is very convenient! You only need a dropper full or less of product to cover your entire face. I don't even need to use the full dropper full. Also, I wanted to note the dark colored bottle because that's definitely a sign that the company cares about the quality of their products. Since a lot of nice, natural ingredients like herbs and such need to be in dark places to prevent them from losing their potency, I suppose this is why it comes in the dark bottle. I like that because it shows the company does care about quality, so I just thought I'd throw that in there too.

I've been taking extra care to make sure I apply a decent amount of the Stunning Serum to the scars I have on my right cheek. I've also been taking care to get the Acne Toner (you'll hear about it in my video and also in a post on its own) on those areas too. Now that I've used the Green Street Luxuries skincare items for over a week, those scars are less visible.

What I actually noticed was at first, there was a tiny bit of peeling (a small flake) on the little cluster of scars I had on my cheek. I didn't even consider that this was a result of the Stunning Serum (and other skincare products from Green Street Lux that I've been using together with this). But after a few more days, I got to looking and seen that the size of the largest, round scar was smaller! Seeing that confirmed that the Stunning Serum was helping to remove the scars! I've had them appear less deep before (randomly too. Like one day I might notice the scars looking less deep and the next, they were clearly visible even when I didn't change my old skincare routine), but they never actually got smaller!

Since my scars are getting smaller in diameter, I'm absolutely sure that one of these days, I am going to wake up and they won't even be there. It's so neat to watch. I haven't ever had success in getting rid of scars, so it's interesting to see how the "hole" just gets smaller and then will eventually not be there.

I also see less pink skin on the cluster of scars I have on my cheek. They used to stay pink, which is one thing that drew attention to them. Now, when I run my finger across that spot, I hardly feel them. It's so much smoother than what it was 9 days ago! This is some very powerful stuff!

Due to my own results, I'd recommend the Stunning Serum to anybody with scars, even the deepest acne scars could benefit from this. Of course the anti-aging and wrinkle/line reducing and skin, complexion smoothening and evening out are all equally wonderful results too, but the acne scars was something I was excited about and wanted to focus on in this post.

Organic Excellence Hand & Body Therapy

I adore the Organic Excellence Hand and Body Therapy! It's literally the best cream I have ever used on my skin. My feet feel so silky, smooth and soft. In fact, I have the Hand and Body Therapy on right now -- I just applied it a while ago after showering and there is just nothing quite like the way my skin feels! My feet feel smoother than ever before, even smoother than when I had a pedicure (something I didn't take well to because it tickles!)

I know this seems like a lot of excitement over a cream, but for the love of Pete, this is amazing. My legs feel almost velvety... Yea, I slather this stuff all over. Go big or go home, right?

Besides the softest, most beautifully-feeling skin I have ever had in my life, there's plenty more amazing things to say about Organic Excellence's Hand and Body Therapy cream. For instance, my skin is somewhat dry and my legs kind of have a scaly look to them. My knees often are dry and paler than the rest of me, my feet are dry and somewhat cracked. After smoothing on some of the Hand & Body Therapy, this all completely disappears. It doesn't just enhance the look of my skin, it almost just gives me completely new skin!

I looked down at my bare thigh just now and it is so smooth and the skin just looks flawless. No wrinklies/cracks from my scaly-ness. The Hand and Body Therapy cream just smoothes everything out and almost seems to get rid of little wrinkly lines on my hands and feet and legs. This stuff is incredible.

Another thing that I want to rave about is the no-residue left behind! The cream is so thick and rich that I did expect some greasy or thick residue left between my fingers which usually irritates me, but I always deal with it by rinsing my hands of the lotions I use and leaving it on the rest of my body. No need with this stuff! There's no residue. When I apply it all over (hands, feet, legs) the cream is absorbed in less than 5 minutes and it absorbs well without leaving this weird sticky or shiny mess behind. And that's one thing I hate -- when I've applied lotion all over and then I find little flecks of dirt stuck to my feet from where the lotion left sticky residue that picks up pet hair and dirt on my skin!

Ah! I just wish ya'll could rub my arm right now and feel how soft. You can't even begin to understand the softness, smoothness, pretty-ness just by my words. But I'll move on and tell you more...

So I was reading about the Hand and Body Therapy lotion and here's what Organic Excellence says about it "Hand & Body Therapy offers special anti-aging ingredients to support collagen production, and restore skin elasticity. Protective nutrients prevent signs of aging and give your skin a fresh, youthful glow."

So if you were reading that description (above) you may not get overly excited if you're like me and have used countless lotions, creams and serums that claim to have collagen and all these anti-aging benefits, but holy moly! So this must explain why I notice such smooth, wrinkly-free skin! This must be a pretty hard-core lotion and seeing those little wrinklies and scales smooth out of my skin instantly make me want to use this stuff every day for the rest of my life because it's probably going to do a serious job at preventing aging signs like wrinkles, which I'm very paranoid about since I turned 23. Everyone says your skin (and body and everything else for that matter) goes downhill after your 20's, so since I turned 19, I began using anti-agers and paying serious attention to my health and skin.

And hey, I could use this stuff everyday for the rest of my life without it doing any harm since it's all organic ingredients.

I also love that the Hand & Body Therapy does leave a beautiful glow on my skin-- enhancing the complexion of my legs and arms -- without actually leaving some shiny, greasy sheen on me. I sure love some shimmer, but when a lotion claims to give me a glow and it ends up doing so via a greasy residue or shimmer, I get irritated. This happens to me with every lotion I have used! So I'm ecstatic that my skin does have a glow, but it's a healthy, natural glow from being truly moisturized and not from some weird ingredient that just lays on top of my skin.

Even after I've washed my hands, they're still incredibly smooth, soft and silky. The Hand And Body Therapy cream keeps my skin so soft and silky all throughout the day & night.

The first time I used the Hand and Body Therapy, while rubbing it in on my feet, I noticed the thick, creamy and super rich consistency means this could make a wonderful foot massage. Simply apply, massage and then leave it rubbed in for lovely, moisturized tootsies!

The cream is white and rich, somewhat thick. When I apply it to my skin, it doesn't feel watery, and as I rub, the white lotion fades away (into my skin.) I have noticed if a lotion is clear-ish and not a deep, rich white, it doesn't moisturize as well for me. Just something I thought I'd include.

There is virtually no scent to this since it is fragrance free, which is a good thing because fragrance often means irritation to skin. Being fragrance free also means this isn't going to send those of us who are migraine-prone into a dark room with an ice pack and ibuprofen (or BC powders if you're me) for a whole day.

Hand and Body Therapy is:
  • Rich in certified organic herbs and beneficial vitamins & nutrients.
  • Chemical, Gluten, fragrance and GMO free!
  • Made with truly high quality ingredients.
  • Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing.
  • Lotion penetrates deeply, bringing instant results.
  • Will hydrate even the driest skin.
  • Protects skin and is anti-aging while giving a youthful look to skin at the same time.
  • Contains Centella Asiatica, Evening Primrose Oil, Hyaluronic Acid and Shea butter, which each have amazing anti-aging, moisturizing and more benefits.
  • Antioxidant rich.
  • Renews collagen, restores tissue firmness & skin elasticity.
  • Repairs sun damage and prevents premature wrinkles!
  • Won't cause itching, but ingredients suggest it'd even be helpful and calming for those who have itchy skin.
  • Contains aloe vera! Ya'll know I love aloe. It has super healing properties for everything, including skin.
Since I'm talking about Organic Excellence and their ingredients, I want to mention the importance of organic/natural products. You can't always be sure that a product will be 100% natural or organic just because the label says so. I've had more than a few products claim 100% natural and organic but seen plenty of chemicals listed in the ingredients! So this is why it's important to look for "Certified organic" and check the ingredients. Organic Excellence's products are all completely, totally natural, safe and also Certified Organic, so no worries there.

Wish Garden Herbs Kick-Ass Immune Booster

Above is a photo of 3 wonderful herbal concoctions, each designed for different needs. First, I want to talk about my favorite, the one located furthest on the right.

This super neat herbal product is Wish Garden Herb's Kick-Ass Immune Activator, and kick ass it does!

The Kick-Ass Immune Activator is obviously designed to boost the immune system, but I'd like to go deeper into detail about it, so let's go!

Here is what it does:
-Provides first line immune defense
-Boosts natural resistance
-Ingredients include stellar team of respiratory-immune herbs

Now you have an idea of what the Kick-Ass Immune Activator does, so let's talk about the ingredients (herbs) and why they're so beneficial for your immune system and overall health..

"Wish Garden's Kick-Ass Immune Activator activates healthy system response. Our unique and powerful team of immune, respiratory, and lymphatic herbal heros support your body's natural resistance now! Keep handy when traveling or in schools, hospitals and events."

Kick-Ass Immune Activator isn't necessarily something you just take daily, I don't think. Instead, it's kind of your emergency rescuer. Your knight in shining armor. It's great to take it when you've been around sick people or during flu season and the like. I have had the perfect opportunity to put Wish Garden Herb's lovely Kick-Ass Immune Activator to the test since I have had used it during flu season when every single person in my family except for me, one of my sisters and my spouse had been sick, badly sick! My mom had the flu, all my neices and nephews, my grandmother, my twin sister, my brother in law. Parts of my spouse's family too! And I don't think any of us got a flu shot, yet my partner & I and one sister are the only ones out of all of us that didn't catch it & we were all around each other!

And then on my birthday, which was 3 days ago, my mom and older sister came down with a yucky semi-cold type of thing. I felt my throat stinging when I woke up the morning before & had already been taking the Kick-Ass Immune Activator on three different days the previous week, took some again that morning of the tingly throat & here we are. 3 days later. My mom was so sick she couldn't work on my birthday, my sister was so sick that day & they both stayed crappy for two days. What did I have? A tingly throat and a funky taste when I coughed, some drainage. Nothing else. I wasn't sweating, no fever, no migraine that blinded me. & that's unusual because I normally suffer from migraines a few times a week. I haven't  had a headache all week & I've been using chemicals all day to clean, which usually send me straight to migraine city. Perhaps the Kick-Ass Immune Activator even helped there.

My spouse hadn't taken the Kick-Ass Immune Activator as much as I did -- I think he took it twice, but a pretty hefty dose & it kept him from catching it too!

How to Use Kick-Ass Immune Activator

Wish Garden Herb's herbal "tonics" as I call them, come in a dark tinted glass bottle with the dropper as the lid. This is really good because a good quality herbal product needs to be kept in a dark place & it really says something about a company who packages their products carefully, and with quality and time in mind. You have much better herbs that'll provide much better results when they're in a bottle like this, and the glass dropper is icing on the cake because you simply use squeeze the little squeezy thing (sorry, lack of words tonight!) and suck up the liquid herbs & then add to your drink or if you're like me, directly under the tongue. This is a much easier method than if it came in a jar where you had to pour and measure things out. Convenient!

So, how you use it...
Wish Garden Herbs recommend 1-2 droppers full in liquid or under the tongue every 2-4 hours as needed. They say to mix in a water bottle for frequent use for up to 1.5 days for additional herbal heroics.

So if you've already came down with something say the flu or another type of cold, then you can still benefit immensely from the Kick-Ass Immune Activator since all the healthy herbs in it will basically activate your immune system and increase your chances of getting well sooner as well as decrease the symptoms of the problem.

Bottom line: Kick-Ass Immune Activator is a life-saver.

Now, let's talk ingredients:

The Active Ingredient in Kick-Ass Immune Activator are:

Yerba Santa Leaf, Baptisia Root, Elderflower, Yarrow Aerials, Osha Root, Goldenseal Root, Echinacea Purpurea Root.

Other ingredients:
Pure Rocky Mountain spring water, vegetable glycerin and organic gluten-free alcohol.

You can see that Wish Garden Herbs uses high-quality ingredients here and each one are beneficial. Also notice that there aren't any harsh ingredients that are often found in other herbal products that only dilute them, reducing their effectiveness. Wish Garden Herbs is hardcore!

Taste

Taste! Oh my. The taste is a bit intense, but nothing I cannot handle when I know the benefits. I can consume almost anything if I know there are health benefits! This is true. But I will admit, the taste is harsh. However, you can always mix your dose into some other juice or liquid to mask the flavor.

The flavor is very herby. Sorry for being vague, but it's tough. If you've tried the herbs that are in this product, maybe you'll have more of an idea of how it tastes.
To me, it's tolerable. I don't gag or anything. It's bitter, but sweet-ish. It has a very planty taste. If you've ever cut the stem of certain plants and noticed that strong, fresh smell, this is something like what I am reminded of when tasting Kick-Ass Immune Activator.

Instead of mixing it into a drink, I like quick, convenient and efficient, so I just added the droplets under my tongue, slowly. I didn't squeeze the entire dropper full into my mouth, but instead put 3-4 drops in my mouth at a time. And really, if you have some drink to "chase" it with, you don't notice a lot of the taste.

I kind of think it tastes cinnamon-y in a slight way. Maybe it's more of a ginger taste, and I did say "this kind of tastes like alcohol," so that's a tad noticeable too.

Kick-Ass Immune Activator is a yellow liquid. I think you may need to give the bottle a slight shake because I noticed the other day, that the dropper full of liquid looked cloudy, so I gave it one small shake to be safe.

The aroma is very potent. It smells slightly bitter and I think that's the Goldenseal Root because I've had Golden Seal Root as a kid. We'd dig it up from my grandmother's woods and chew it -- very bitter, but not terrible. There's something a little addicting about the taste. I've heard so many numerous health benefits that can come from Golden Seal root, so there's a lot to gain here. I always heard it called "Yellow Root."

Now, I don't want to drag this part out too horribly much, but feel it's important to focus a little on just some of the benefits of each ingredient.

I was just discussing the Golden Seal Root. So I want to start there. I'll do this in bullet-point style to make it easier to read.

  • Golden Seal Root has astringent, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and laxative properties.
  • Golden Seal Root has astringent effects on the mucus membranes of the upper respiratory tract, hence the reason Wish Garden Herbs uses it in their Immune system tonic. It also is an astrigent for the digestive tract and bladder. It's helpful for digestion too. Golden Seal increases mucus membrane secretion and increases the flow of healthy secretion. Works as a natural anti-biotic.
  • Golden Seal can also help with other problems including colds, flu, sinuses, sore throat, laryngitis, ear ache, gastritis, mouth sores, colitis and chest congestion and more! When used externall, it can be hugely beneficial for skin disorders of about every variety (exzema, psoriasis, etc.)

Yerba Santa Leaf

  • Native Americans used Yerba Santa Leaf to treat sore throat, coughs, colds, flu, bronchial congestion, asthma and clears phlegm and mucus.
  • It's also been used externally (in a bath or something) to help relieve fever, heal acne, and reduce pains.
  • Also a digestive stimulant, has been used to cure rheumatism and allergies.
  • Yerba Santa Leaf is an anti-inflammatory.
  • Contains flavanoids, which may have potential to be anti-cancerous

 Baptisia Root

  • Native Americans used Baptisia Root as a natural antiseptic to treat wounds. It's also been used to help with extreme fever, fatigue and even confusion.
  • Used to treat influenza (the flu), gastric infections, fever and throat infections.
  • Baptisia was developed to treat typhoid fever (according to Herbs 2000)

Just a note on the Baptisia Root ingredient before moving on: You see that the active ingredients are both used for flus and respiratory issues, infections and digestive problems. Baptisia Root also seems that since it has been used to treat extreme fatigue and confusion, it may help clear the foggy head and sense of dreaming, being thrown off and mentally cloudy and drained when you have the flu or a cold. I often feel this way when I'm sick and it's one of the most annoying parts of being sick, so from the information I've gathered and shared above, I've came to the conclusion that it may possibly help with those aspects of the flu or colds as well. Okay, I'll shut up on this now.

 Elder Flower Root

  • It's been said that Elder Flower Root is the oldest herb cultivated by man.
  • Used to build the immune system by clearing out toxins through lymph glands (removing toxins is going to benefit you whether you have the flu or not, so this is great news)
  • Used to treat asthma, respiratory problems and to clear catarrh. In fact, I have heard the other herbs I've listed above have been used in the treatment of catarrh too, so this could be worth looking into if you suffer from that.
  • Used to build the immune system of low-immune people such as children, elderly (maybe that's one reason for its name? Kidding), sick people, around the time of influenza breakouts.
  • Used to relieve sinusitis, treat pollen allergies and used externally to remove skin spots like freckles.
  • Very high in antioxdants and contains Vitamin C. Also full of flavanoids, caratenoids, amino acids, vitamins and tannins.

Yarrow Aerials

  • Used in wars to heal wounds and has been used to heal bruises and skin problems. Helps stop bleeding.
  • Remedy for colds, fever and flu.
  • Yarrow is an astringent and digestive tonic (like all the other active ingredients).
  • Reduces fever, aids in stimulation of sweating, is a blood vessel strengthener.
  • Promotes quick recovery from the flu and colds.
  • Cleanses waste from the body. This ingredient also stimulates digestive activity (like the other ingredients, which is a good thing).
  • Helpful for diarrhea, IBS (I've been there! Suffered with IBS for years).
  • Helps with circulation problems, high blood pressure, can tone vericose veins.

Osha Root

  •  Has anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties.
  • Used to treat flu, coughs, cold, soothe sore and inflammed tissues of the throat and other areas.
  • Increases blood circulation to the lungs making it helpful for emphysema, pneumonia, allergies and asthma.
  • Increases oxygen intake.
  • Clears mucus from sinuses, throat and lungs.
  • Used by Native Americns to treat all sorts of respiratory problems.

Echinacea Purpurea Root

  • Cures colds and flu, fights all sorts of infections.
  • Stimulates cell activity and new tissue growth.
  • Promotes T-cell activation
  • Causes our immune cells to be more efficient in attacking bacteria, abnormal cells and viruses and cancer cells.
  • Increases the amount of immune system cells like anti-tumor cells.
  • Reduces inflammation, is sufficient in wound healing, and can be especially beneficial for arthritis sufferers.
  • Helps prevent infections.

Clearly, judging by all the useful information I've added about the different hebs in the Kick-Ass Immune Activator, it's safe to say that all the active ingredients are highly beneficial for treating all sorts of respiratory problems, and if you noticed, digestive too! So it's safe to say this would be extremely beneficial for digestive ailments as well as it could relieve inflammation, possibly relieve constipation (very possibly, believe me) and more. Wish Garden Herbs knew exactly what kind of ingredients to use for this product because if you read the information I put on the herbal ingredients, you'll see just how extremely effective each are for colds, flu, respiratory problems and digestive problems. All of those combined make the Kick Ass Immune Activator one powerful remedy.

And when you're not sick, you can definitely be more ass-kicking!

Merry Go Round calms my thoughts

SUN FEATHER'S STORY--How it began

"SunFeather’s history began in the fall of 1979, when founder Sandy Maine blended a passion for fragrant and medicinal herbs with a fascination and skill for soapmaking. With a core value that a business can deliver positive products to consumers, Sandy pooled her talents and started SunFeather in her backyard with a vat of bubbling oil and $15.00 worth of local cedar oil.

For five years (while the business grew), Sandy hauled water in 5-gallon pails from a nearby spring to her farmhouse, which provided a peaceful setting and crystal clear water for making soap. Because she lived beyond the power lines (utilizing only a small generator and no telephone), all business was initially done by mail. Sandy visited the nearby town twice each week to place phone calls to customers. During that time, Saturday nights with her husband Louie were often spent wrapping and labeling soaps for shipment.

As the business grew, employees joined the business to help with the increasing workload. Eventually, Sandy gave up her role as soap maker and focused on product development, sales and marketing. Sandy’s work expanded to include authorship of numerous articles and books on soapmaking, herbal homekeeping and succeeding in business. Sandy’s work has expanded the appreciation and use of handmade soaps in ways she never anticipated. Sandy continues her product development legacy as we maintain the company’s founding philosophies. Great soap is here to stay!"

I enjoy learning about a company's history so I usually try to post those interesting things here. How neat is that story? Now that's some real passion!

So, I have been sampling a few of those cute mini Sun Feather soap bars these past couple of days and they are so nice! When I opened the package, my nose was greeted with the most lovely, clean and relaxing scent! I swear I heard "calm, relax, take the day off." Ha. Ha. Kidding, but I was certainly regretting not having the soap an hour earlier--when I took my shower. Instead, I reserved extra time for a bath so I could really enjoy these mini bars.

The one I used that night was Merry Go Round.

~ As long as your child is NOT allergic to ANY of the ingredients in Merry Go Round the soap is "Great for kids!" Please be sure to carefully check the ingredients before using on a child and be careful when introducing new ingredients into a child's bath. You wouldn't introduce more than one fruit into a child's diet at a time and same goes for the bath. Just a little caution I felt needed to be thrown out there before I go recommending you use it on your child. Please use your own judgement!

~Artisinal handcrafted soap.

~Paraben-free, gluten-free and soy-free soap.

~Plant-based soaps formulated with certified organic base oils.

~ Scented with essential oils and natural aromatics.

 INGREDIENTS:
Saponified Oils of Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*and Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil*, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) Oil, Citrus Limonium (Lemon) Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Mentha Spicata (Spearmint) Oil, Lavandula Hybrida (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Grandis (White Grapefruit) oil, Chromium Hydroxide, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Annatto Extract, Beta Carotene (Natural Colors), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract. * Made with certified organic oils.

-You've read my thoughts on coconut oil--love it! It's amazing for the skin and can be used internally as well (not by eating soap though). It has wonderful properties including healing, softening and is the best thing for dry skin! It can be helpful for issues like eczema and psoriasis as well.

As some of you may already know, essential oils can be really good for the skin, depending on what kind you are using. I'm not 100% sure what is in Sun Feathers soaps as far as "essential oils and natural aromatics" goes. However, there's nothing like the scent of natural aromatics! It's the most pleasant scent I've ever smelled.

I know I've mentioned this before, but there's this shop down town called All Things Groovy, the neatest little place we used to shop at as kids. It's been a couple years since I've been in there, but they sell nice natural soaps and scents and ever since my nose first walked into that shop, I've been in love with that natural, aromatic scent. My Lovie and I were sniffing all the Sun Feather samples and were in pure bliss! We've decided we want our entire home to smell this way. So I've decided to try Sun Feather's spritzers too! Sunfeather also sells candles and other neat products as well!

As for Merry Go Round, I thought it was the cutest bar of soap I'd ever seen. If you can see in my picture, it's colorful and has neat little circles in it. Such an interesting little guy! I tend to stay away from bar soap because it always has this weird smell to it--almost stinky like very unclean body odor and I'm not talkin' about arm pits! However, the lovely aroma of Sunfeathers soap does not have that bar soap smell. While I was able to smell it while in its plastic wrap, it isn't over powering or strong. After my shower, I'm unable to smell it on my skin, although it would not bother me if I walked around all day smelling like Merry Go Round!

  The Smell
I can't exactly put my finger on one particular scent with the Merry Go Round soap. It's more like a mixture of several different things. I can sniff it one minute and detect lemon and sniff again and my nose reports back with something of a floral note. Merry Go Round is the perfect soap for the person who needs to be and feel squeaky clean. With lemon, lime, tangerine and spearmint, you're going to be left clean--no doubt! Lemon is a lovely scent and I can detect it in this soap well, but at times, I'm able to smell the tangerine. Before I knew what scent it was, I guessed lemon/verbena and orange! Very close. The minty smell is subtle making all of these scents blend together for the perfect aroma of cleanliness. Plus, the mini bar fits like it's customized for your hand. If you kid is not allergic to any of the ingredients, this would be the perfect bar for them. Small enough for their little hands.

I rubbed myself down all over twice with Merry Go Round. From behind my ears all the way to my toes! I couldn't get enough of it. I may be a weird-o, but with regular store-bought bar soap and even, ahem, Tom's Of Maine's natural bars, I am always left with this squeaky-ish film and bath water that looks like milk. It icks me out a little. I don't know what causes it, but it irritates me. Since I've never used a bar soap that did not do this, I expected it with Sunfeather's soap, but quickly decided that if it did do that, I'd not mind because it's so beautiful smelling! Thankfully, it didn't leave my water near as white/milky as any other soap. I'm not even sure that white water means something bad, it's just something I don't love about most bar soap. I really was impressed after seeing that my water wasn't totally white--and I used A LOT!

When I said Merry Go Round is the perfect soap for the person who needs to feel totally clean, I meant it! It's not the type of soap that leaves you with the feeling of a film, something that simply makes you smell nice rather than clean you. I feel nice and clean with this soap. I also feel relaxed with the scent, especially the soap that has lavendar in it, which I will be reviewing soon! If you like to relax or take your bath before bed, Sunfeather's lavendar soap is a God-send. Also, know that lavendar is a natural relaxant (is that a word?) so as long as you or your child is not allergic to the ingredients, that is a perfect before bed soap to use.

Before leaving my bath, I had to take a few minutes to just hang out with the lovely scent. My mind usually raes with thoughts while showering. My to-do list starts yelling at me, but I felt nice and calm bathing with Merry Go Round. Sunfeather's scents are incredibly relaxing. Forget therapy! Take a bath with Merry Go Round. (OK, if you really need therapy, please don't call your therapist and say "Kendra told me I won't be needing you today." Ha Ha.)

To sum it up, I'm quite impressed with Sunfeathers soap. Not only is it adorable, the relaxing scents are a must-have! I'm determined to try them all.

Be sure to check them out for yourselves and don't forget to leave me your opinion and recommendations! What is your favorite SunFeather product/scent? You never know, I just might try it!
