Somatique Stretch Mark Treatment Review

In this review, you'll read about the Somatique Stretch Mark Treatment. To read about the Somatique facial cleanser click here.

In my last post, the Somatique Facial Cleanser review, I promised a review for the Somatique Stretch Mark Treatment, and a lot of you expressed a huge interest in it, so I'm going to be as detailed and thorough as I possibly can in this post. If any questions are left unanswered, don't hesitate to ask away.

Put briefly, Somatique's Stretch Mark Treatment is designed to help prevent stretch marks with its awesome, organic, effective ingredients like Shea butter, jojoba oil, tamanu oil, Vitamin E, coconut oil, aloe vera and beeswax. However, it can also be used to help fade existing stretch marks. This is why I wanted to use it. I don't have any new marks, but have had old ones since my teen years.

Now that I've had a month of use with this stuff, I'm going to tell you all about it. I'll start with my results.

My Results Using the Somatique Stretch Mark Treatment

I should start by telling you that everyone is going to be different with these things. Results are likely to vary greatly between individuals. I personally have probably moderate stretch marks. Not severe like you may see immediately after giving birth or something of that nature. My stretch marks are deep, though. My stretch marks are mostly on my legs and sides/obliques. They appeared on my inner and outer thighs as well as lightly on my calves during my teen years. I'm 24 now, so they've been with me for a while.

It's been around 1 month since I began using the Somatique Stretch Mark Treatment cream. As of the time of writing, I've seen a possible change in appearance of my stretch marks (those on my outer thighs.) However, the change, if any, is so minor that photos weren't useful here. I will certainly continue use and photograph any results after more time has passed. I wish so badly that I could've had some noticeable results by now, but the "after" photos would look identical to the ones you see labeled "before."

At times, though, when looking at the stretch marks on my outer thighs, they seem less noticeable. The marks on my sides, the ones that are the deepest, are still just as bad as before. Hopefully, the change will appear soon as I continue to apply the cream twice daily. I won't give up hope just yet!

Things to Keep in Mind:

I assume folks who have new stretch marks may see a quicker improvement than those who've had them much longer. I don't know if this is true, though.  I also have minor stretch marks that aren't as deep or as many on my chest. During the time I've been using the Stretch Mark Treatment, I've focused on the worst of the areas -- my thighs and sides. I've even taken photos before and after for you guys.

These are my "before" photos. If any change does happen, and the marks show any sign of improvement, I'll include the "afters".

I didn't want to get too graphic, considering the marks appear in areas that are under my clothing, so I simply took some up-close photos of the skin to give you readers an idea of what I started with. I figure this may be helpful in some way, and better than just words.

Somatique Stretch Mark Treatment pictured on the left

I began using the Somatique Stretch Mark Treatment immediately when it arrived to me, which was around the end of February. I apply to clean, dry skin nightly and sometimes in the mornings, too.

The Somatique Stretch Mark Treatment  impressed me with its super rich, thick and highly moisturizing properties. It healed my dry skin areas (which are pretty much on every body part I have) within the first week of use.

So far, I've seen an improvement in my skin's softness. It's never been this smooth and soft! Or this moisturized, either. I actually took a liking to this stretch mark cream as an intensive moisturizer and skin smoother, too. I realized quickly that even if I didn't receive an improvement in my stretch marks, I'd be happy with the softness of my skin alone.

What I Love About Somatique Stretch Mark Treatment:

  •  Safe for pregnant & nursing women

  •  Organic, safe and effective ingredients
  • Highly moisturizing and leaves skin smooth.
  • Improves skin elasticity

Ingredients and Their Benefits:
Organic Aloe Vera Juice, Organic Sunflower Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Organic Vegetable Glycerin, Octyl Palmitate, Shea Butter, Organic Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, Cetyl Alcohol, Potassium Stearate, Organic Beeswax, Matrixyl 3000, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E, Organic Jojoba Oil, Tamanu Oil, Organic Borage Oil, Organic Flax Seed Oil, Organic Evening Primrose Oil, Organic Rose Hip Oil, Vitamin B5, Arnica, Organic Lavender, Organic Calendula, Organic Chamomile, Grapeseed Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Sodium Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Ethyl Hexyl Glycerin.

Like most of the Lady Soma products I've used, the stretch mark treatment is also high in antioxidants, which help promote elasticity.  antioxidants are responsible for not only preventing damage to the skin, but also repairing it, too.

Jojoba Oil: It's rich in Vitamin E (antioxidant!), which means age-prevention. Restores skin's natural pH balance.

Works as an anti-inflammatory (so that's good for redness and irritated areas, including psoriasis and eczema). Softens and smooths texture of skin (and hair), acts as an incredible moisturizer, without clogging pores. It restores skin's  normal  oil balance. Jojoba oil is hypoallergenic and safe to use on all skin. Also has fungicidal properties. It's been touted for its acne scar and stretch mark fading abilities.

Tamanu Oil: Has also been used widely in the removal of stretch marks, and has some evidence to back up its efficiency:
"BioScience Laboratories conducted a study of Tamanu oil's ability to improve the appearance of scars. The results showed that when Tamanu oil was applied to the scarred area twice daily for nine consecutive weeks, scar length decreased by an average 0.28 centimeters and the and width was decreased by an average 0.12 centimeters."
 Source: Botanical.com

It's also been used to treat many skin conditions. It has anti-microbial properties

Coconut Oil: Also well-known for its use in stretch mark treatment. Coconut oil has amazing skin benefits (and internal ones, too!) It has anti-fungal, anti-septic,  anti-microbial properties and more. It's a decent moisturizer, helps with skin problems, protects against UV rays,

Aloe Vera

Ya'll know I have to refrain from getting too excited when I talk about healthy, awesome ingredients like aloe. It has been my life-saver in more ways than just skin-related (IBS - candidiasis). Aloe has so many benefits for us, internally and externally. It's soothing to any kind of irritation, it helps heal and has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

How it Feels

I wanted you guys to get an idea of the cream's awesome creamy, rich texture, so here's a photo of the actual cream.

As you'd expect in a product that contains so many awesome oils, this has a somewhat greasy feeling right before its fully absorbed into the skin, and that's something I do love -- the cream will fully absorb into skin leaving behind little residue. The residue that may be left behind usually ends up absorbed as well after some time, then I'm left with soft, smooth skin. It's not nearly as greasy as you may expect, but it's thick and rich, which makes it even better! A thin, watery cream would never be enough for stretch mark treatment.

The little glass jar comes with 4 oz of cream, and since it's so thick and rich, it takes a little more than a quarter sized drop to cover my thighs. In fact, it takes about a tablespoon full to cover a thigh. I'm not sure this would be a product that'll last throughout a whole year or anything, but so far, I have at least a several month supply left.

Now, I have to admit it -- I've been in love with the way this stuff leaves my skin so perfectly soft and hydrated that I couldn't resist but to use it on my face! I know that sounds insane, but the ingredients are safe and healthy, so they shouldn't cause any issues. My skin was just so incredibly dry that when I seen how well it worked on my thighs, I had to try it on my face, too and I was pleasantly surprised with the results!

I guess I can also admit that during a rub-down of my stretch mark areas, I realized how perfect this cream would also be on dry feet, so.... Yeah, I used it on my feet one night, too. Hey, who could blame me? They felt so great! I slipped my socks on, and my feet have been softer ever since that one application of the stuff.

Then I decided it was best to not get too carried away and use it all on my non-stretch-marked body parts.

To see the FULL LIST of ingredients in this product you can go here to view them.

DIRECTIONS:
Smooth several drops onto face and neck after cleaning. Can be used morning and evening!

The Lady Soma Renewal Serum is both Anti-aging and Anti-wrinkle. It's "Designed to penetrate skin using concentrated dose of Hyaluronic Acid which is known as a renewal formula for promoting cell production and hydration for smooth, glowing skin!"

Excuse the horrendous nails! (I was practicing and testing colors lately and well, we have one ugly combination here! Lol)

What I was trying to show in the above picture was the actual product/serum. It's thin and serum-y, but not incredibly runny which is something I see a lot in serums. I'm really pleased with this texture. It's almost gel-like so it goes on really well without running off my hands. The thickness is like that of a thin gel.

I have to say, the Renewal Serum is the first ever serum I've used that didn't leave a tacky, shiny feel and look on my skin. I tend to avoid serums just for that reason, but I actually love the way the Renewal Serum goes on the skin... My lovie does too! (Shhh!)

I've been adding a bit of info to this review over the course of the past couple of weeks and now that I've had the chance to really use it and see results, I'm confident when I say that it's a must have product for those looking for these type of results.

The more I use the Renewal Serum, the more I love it. I've said so many times that I end up dreading even using a product after a couple of weeks because it kind of stops showing results. Recently I spent a lot of money on a tiny jar of cream/moisturizer for my face and I loved it during the first 6 days and then I started noticing that it would do crazy things like roll up in tiny balls and come right off my face! It was so weird because it never done those things the previous 6 days. Sadly, this is the case with a lot of skincare products. They work well when you first use them and then they get a mind of their own and rebel! I was a little tense this past week when I'd go to use the Renewal Serum. It done so wonderfully well for my skin that I would get nervous as I continued using it, afraid it'd stop producing results like everything else.

I'M more than happy to report that I've had no decrease in results while using Lady Soma's Renewal Serum daily for more than 15 days! As soon as I leave the shower, it's the first thing I use. I usually have my deodorant, makeup, vitamins and lotions lined up waiting for me when I get out of the shower and I always grab the Renewal Serum first, even before deodorant! It's actually a pleasure to use. My skin is almost always tight and a bit dry when I'm done showering and the minute I massage the Renewal Serum into my skin, things start to loosen up and look great. My pores look smaller every single time I use it and I've never used anything that has evened out my complexion like the Renewal Serum! I've used the BHA lotions and everything.

While I do add a drop of moisturizer to my nose before applying makeup, the serum gives the rest of my skin the perfect amount of hydration and not a bit of greasyness!  This is definitely a product that's given me results that I've never encountered with other products and if you'll take a glance at a number of my  posts, you'll see that I have tried it all!

I can't quite point out what it is about the Renewal Serum that makes everything look so darn perfect, but I can say that applying makeup is so much easier. I use a little foundation to give me some color since I'm anemic, it shows in my face. Before I used the Renewal Serum, I would have to scrub my face with my abrasive exfoliator daily and twice in a row! Then I'd smother on moisturizer, let it dry and mix my foundation with twice as much moisturizer. I'd apply that and go over it with a powder foundation then a bronzer, then a blush! Talk about cakin' it on! It was awful and honestly, needing to do so much to my face made me feel really bad. No matter what, it just looked bad to me. With all the dryness and uneven color and then makeup on top of it, I never was very pleased. Using the Renewal Serum really has made things so different for me. As bad as this sounds, I don't feel like I look awful without makeup anymore. I still like to add color, but there's never any really bad spots of discoloration (especially around my mouth!) or blemishes or really large pores.

This is a bit long, but I really wanted to go into detail about my personal experience using the Renewal Serum. I mentioned the discoloration around my mouth. About that, for some reason, the area around my entire mouth looked darker than my face. I hated that and couldn't get rid of it. Peroxide, lemon juice and even skin bleach didn't fix it. I'm not sure why it was there, but I really hated it and after about a week and a half, I noticed it wasn't dark around that area anymore! You guys might have even noticed the color in some of my blog photos before.

Anybody who struggles with discoloration or age spots, blemishes or dull skin will truly appreciate Lady Soma's Renewal Serum. I hope with all my heart that it continues to make my skin look so nice. Using it has saved me so much time that I normally spend fixing my face. Now, I slap on the mascara and serum and a little bronzer and I'll have an extra hour to do other things with my time. I love you Lady Soma!

Well, my lovelies, now that I've shared my little insecurities (and the fix for them!) I will leave you to check out the Lady Soma line yourself. If you happen to use Lady Soma, feel free to share your experiences with me too! I love hearing y'all's results too!

Lady Soma Skin and Nail Treatment

As the picture suggests, the product is Lady Soma's Skin and Nail Treatment, also known in my words as a jar of wonderful!

Photobucket

Strengthens nails, soft supple cuticles, heals dry cracked skin and restores, penetrates, relieves, soothes!

Lady Soma has designed a  full line of products for women all which are manufactured under Good Manufacturing Standards.

Lady Soma products are always free of sulfates, parabens, propylene, glycol, mineral oils, silicone, and sunthetic fragrance and dyes! How amazing is that?

Skin and Nail Treatment review

I know a lot of you lovely ladies, like myself, have a real passion for decorating nails. As someone who works a little in the nail biz, I was immediately interested when I saw the Lady Soma Skin and Nail Treatment. I have used a bazillion nail treatments, cuticle creams and oils, but Lady Soma's treatment stood out to me in a big way because of it being free of all the nasties (harmful ingredients). Since I'm not only caring for my own nails, I have to think about my customers any time I purchase a nail product of any kind. Everybody has different likes and dislikes, but nobody prefers a drug-store quality product that's full of nasties over the good stuff!

I first used the Lady Soma Skin and Nail Treatment on my own hands and skin while doing a manicure for myself. One use and I was sure I didn't want to share the Treatment! It didn't take long before I became as impressed with the Nail Treatment as I was with the other 2 Lady Soma products I had.

If you are one of my ladies who keep your hands regularly "manicured" you know the basics and that keeping your cuticles under control is necessary. I'll be the first to admit, that alone is a hard job! My cuticles seem to grow abnormally fast and take up my whole nail. Then I have to push them down and cut them. You can't do that without some kind of treatment. I had been using oil treatment which made the nails and hands shiny and pretty, but it wasn't making things as easy as it could've been. Using a good, rich lotion/cream can be useful and some customers have their very own that they prefer to be used, but no matter how well it may work for moisturizing, it doesn't always do well for the nails.

When you're cutting cuticles off with a cuticle cutter or in desperate times, a scalpel, putting something on the cuticles is necessary! Lotions don't quite do it. Most creams won't soften the cuticle enough to prevent hang nails, bleeding and inflamed nail beds.  So, what I'm trying to say here is cuticles are a pain! Secondly, I am so happy to report that Lady Soma's Nail and Skin Treatment is awesome for this! After cutting away and experiencing no bleeding or hang nails, I was beginning to like this stuff. There were still a few things I had to be sure of with the product though...

For one, with a Skin and Nail Treatment, it should soften the tissue, strengthen nails and if you happen to be lucky enough to have Lady Soma's treatment on hand, leave hands looking brand new! My hands look so pretty when I use it that I even tried taking a photo of before and after just to show the difference in my skin there, but unfortunately, I had no luck getting a picture that showed anything. I'm still working on it though, I just need the right lighting and... possibly a new camera? I'm determined to show you guys photos of my hands before using the Lady Soma Treatment and after using it. It's that good! While I won't be sharing my own tub of this nail treatment, I will certainly be purchasing an extra for customers.

If you've stayed with me so far, you've read some pretty awesome things about Lady Soma and this Skin and Nail Treatment. I do however have to add a bit more about it. It has all the important parts needed in a skin and nail treatment. Here's a brief few points of what it does really well:

  • Softens and moisturizes intensively!
  • Has a rich, creamy texture
  • No greasy residue
  • Leaves skin and hands looking so pretty and brand new
  • Smells nice
  • Allows for easier, painless and proper cuticle cutting (or should I say mutilation! LOL)
  • Strengthens nails.
Those are really awesome things, but what really makes me love the Lady Soma Skin and Nail Treatment above all others (well, one of the things) is that when you wash your hands they're left with a soft, youthful feeling and it lasts for a long time. Most lotions for the hands and cuticles rinses right away and that means it's doing no good for your nails, but I can still feel the softness on my hands and while there's no thick residue left behind, it penetrates skin and continues working after being washed!
Also, this stuff isn't only for the manicurists, it's really a staple for anyone who works towards keeping healthy hands. If you don't chop away at your cuticles and paint your nails, you'll still benefit just as much with the Skin and Nail Treatment. If you want to strengthen brittle nails or if you are forever soaking your hands with thick creams, this stuff is great. Even If only for a hand cream, I'm positive that it's a product you will want to keep on hand. On my own nails, I use a scalpel for polish removal instead of polish remover because I can hardly handle the smell (migraine city!). It's an awful thing to do, chopping at your nails, but it's what I've resorted to and it has left me with some awful looking nails. I'm always cutting into my actual nail leaving them really sore and terribly brittle and thin. In just days of using the Skin and Nail Treatment, my nails have improved!
Be sure to check out the full Lady Soma product line as well as the Skin and Nail Treatment. Lady Soma offers a beautiful selection of products for women and I'm too excited to try them all. I've talked about the Skin and Nail Treatment here as well as the Berry Face Masque previously. That one, I cannot get enough of! Soon I'll be talking about the Photo Aging Face Serum, but for now I'm still learning about it as I use it. I will give you a hint about it though: I do love what I've seen so far and Lady Soma has not disappointed! One thing about the facial products is that they don't just randomly stop working. I've experienced the facial products that suddenly stop working for my skin so often and have ended up with one brand that I can really rely on and Lady Soma has quickly became another reliable product line for me. It's almost heart warming! I do hope you guys take the time to check them out.
While I've mentioned the skin and facial products, that's not all you can get from Lady Soma. They also offer a selection of supplement such as the Probiotic Cleanse, Lady Soma Detox, Candida Cleanse Advanced, and Cranberry Concentrate with Vitamin C. I can't help but add a tiny bit of info about these supplements, don't worry it'll be short. First off, I have not tried any of them, but certainly will starting with the Candida Cleanse. Since I used to suffer severely from abdominal problems (that's what we'll call it) the Candida Cleanse is something that could provide a lot of relief for those who suffer from things like Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I know exactly how agonizing and even debilitating it is to go through it. You've read a little about my past issues with endometriosis and IBS and from reading up on Lady Soma's Candida Cleanse, I would certainly recommend looking into it. Again, I've not tried it, but would definitely do so although I'm no longer going through the debilitating problems caused from IBS. It could be very helpful for other things as well.

The Cranberry Concentrate would be relieving for someone who frequently suffers from UTI's and the like. My sister happens to be one of those and we're working on getting her the Cranberry Concentrate now. She suffered from UTI's and kidney infections since we were kids so it would be awesome to find something that would provide real relief.

If any of you have tried any of the products from the Lady Soma line please feel free to let me know your results! I'd love to hear what you've tried and how your experience was. If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend checking them out!
Yes, Lady Soma forever has a spot all to its self in my vanity!

Antioxidant Berry Facial Masque

The Antioxidant Berry Masque from the Lady Soma line is perfect for dry winter skin. With ton of antioxidants, the Berry Masque gives your complexion a smooth and glowy look.

Easy to apply and easy to rinse away, the Berry Masque is a quick and refreshing way to give your skin a boost!

Photobucket
The Antioxidant Berry Masque contains antioxidant berries as well as Vitamins A, C, and E.

"The masque allows for a detox facial treatment using the antioxidant power of blueberries and cranberries, which enhance cellular renewal and collagen production.

The glycolic and alpha lipoic acids create a microdermabrasion-like effect that eliminates dead skin cells to reveal a fresh new layer."

  HOW TO USE MASQUE:
This masque is easier and quicker for me than most masks that I've used in the past. It's creamy, rich texture is easy to slather on and just as easy to rinse off. No long waiting periods either. Swipe some of the masque all over the face while avoiding eyes and mouth of course, then let it sit for 8 minutes (shorter if you need and a few minutes longer if you prefer) Sometimes it just feels nice to leave it on for a while and let it really work. After you're done, simply rinse with warm water and follow with your moisturizer.

TIPS: I like to do a little massaging when I am applying the Berry Masque to my face to help penetrate and just get the best results as well as exfoliate a bit. I just give my face a quick massage while I'm applying the masque and the tiny bits of berry are enough for a very gentle exfoliant. I do a little rubbing before I rinse it off too. Since it is thick and creamy (a good thing!) using a wash cloth to wipe some away before rinsing will make things quicker.

Facial masks are fun and usually relaxing. I've used very many different masks and I've experienced everything from burning the skin off my face to giving me nice skin for 24 hours. However, I've never used a mask that kept giving me great results with each and every use. There's those cheap, refreshing facial masks you can buy at drug stores and when used once in a blue moon, they can freshen up your skin, but it only lasts for a few hours before you're back to your normal issues and forget keeping it around forever because after a couple of uses, it's like you're immune to it! It quits working for you. That's so disappointing and because of this, I'm so picky with skincare products.  Using the Berry Masque, it feels nice and refreshing and certainly not painful! I never experience the slightest discomfort and I can use it daily for a week without my skin's problems returning. It's a keeper!

The first time I used the Antioxidant Berry Masque, I noticed a smoother, glowier complexion and my skin looked less dull and the little blemishes were less noticeable. I went ahead and used it again the next day and my skin looked great! I expected it to last throughout the night, but not through the next day. I was greeted the next evening with the same great skin when I looked in the mirror! Very moisturized and a big difference in the bit of discoloration I had from previous problems and blemishes. All the redness and dark spots and uneven skin tone around my mouth was clearing away quickly. A few days later, I chose to continue use every night and my skin looks even better! Masques are mainly a once a week type of thing, but it's hard not to use the Berry Masque every night! It feels great and gives my skin everything it needs.

I even found that I needed little to no moisturizer afterward! That's a miracle. I have been using the Renewal Serum every night after the Berry Masque and haven't needed anything extra. The two work beautifully together! I love the smooth complexion! It did even things out and smooth away my little scars that would suddenly flare up every few days.

After using the Berry Masque, you'll immediately start to see skin that looks fresh and dewy, not dull and tired. Without drying out my skin or leaving it oily, the Berry Masque leaves me with an good glow. I also have noticed easier makeup application. I usually mix liquid foundation with a thick moisturizer because it dried out my skin and I don't like overly caking my makeup. I hardly felt the need for the foundation lately and only use a little bit to help tint my sickly pale face for now. Instead of creating little balls that roll off your skin when you apply makeup or moisturizer, the Berry Masque and Renewal Serum work well with anything you put on. I feel like I need less covering up every day and I've seen less uneven spots when I do apply makeup. Bronzer and blush will glide over the Lady Soma Products without problem and I'm able to blend the makeup well without lines!

I am impressed with the Berry Masque. I love the berry scent and all the amazing ingredients and benefits! The healthy skin is wonderful and noticeable instantly. After my 8 minutes of Berry Masque time are up, that icky layer of dead skin which is very noticeable on my skin, disappears and the dead, dry flakes are exfoliated away without using abrasive scrubbing. It's easy and quick and so convenient to not have to use literally a whole load of product every night and morning on my skin. I simply use the maque, rinse, apply Renewal Serum and sleep. Then I wake up, apply a bit of moisturizer (I've done that routine for so many years that I just can't skip it!) and then go straight to doing my makeup. Normally, I have to line up the facial products each night before I shower and then line em' back up for the A.M. It's ridiculous and takes up an incredible amount of my time. I can't even tell you how much I appreciate the Berry Masque and Renewal Serum. Using those two have been saving me some major time! TIP: If you're having to use more than one moisturizer/cream in one day, your moisturizer/cream is NOT doing it's job and you should consider switching to a product that can stand alone! Even if I didn't use the Berry Masque, the Renewal Serum alone is enough to cut my skincare routine time in half. It's more than worth it! PS. Don't you worry, I'll give you the juicy deets on the Renewal Serum asap!

I absolutely plan to continue using Lady Soma products. And to give you a little information, Lady Soma has a line of products made specifically for us ladies and you can find everything from skin and nail treatment (will be reviewing that soon and let me just say, it's amazing!) to facial products to digestive products which I'll so be trying!
