NutriBiotic Hydrating Facial Toner

As I promised in other reviews this week, I am sharing the last of the 3 products I have been using from the NutriBiotic Antioxidant Properties skincare line. And this is one of my aboslute favorites -- the Hydrating Facial Toner.

If you guys haven't already read my other 2 posts where I talked about my results (and the benefits) of using NutriBiotics' Foaming Facial Wash and their Peptide Creme, you may enjoy reading those 2 first.

If you do miss it, I'll brief you on my "regimen":

I use the Foaming Facial Cleanser for cleaning my face in the shower (daily), then this Hydrating Toner, and once it's nice & absorbed, I follow up with the Peptide Creme -- all fabulous products.

The Antioxidant Properties Hydrating Toner has a lot of ingreients with effective properties for skin. This is one reason I'm so fond of the line. Since the Hydrating Toner is not rinsed, but left on the skin, this ensures the helpful ingredients such as DMAE will be absorbed and used. If you just rinsed it off, it wouldn't do much good. And just like the other NutriBiotic products, the Toner is also free of parabens.

The good news is, this is the only toner I've ever felt was worth using everyday. I tend to have a shiny or sticky residue left on my face any time I've used toners, so this one suits me well. I can use it at night or in the day without having oily or sticky skin. It also does just fine (as does the Peptide Creme) under makeup. It doesn't affect the application of foundation.

The Hydrating Toner is a clear liquid -- feels similar to water. To use it, you just need a cotton ball to apply in upward strokes, as NutriBiotic recommends. I haven't had cotton balls on hand, so I first tried it with a tissue and this works just as well if you're removing impurities, dirt and leftover makeup. However, I really want the benefits of this Hydrating Toner, so lately I've been dabbing a little on my face after I go over it with a tissue. I just feel like this prevents me from wiping it all off my face with the tissue.

Moving on.

The Hydrating Toner is used after you've washed your face. I use it either at night or day -- depending on when I shower. I do prefer using it at night, before bed because your skin does its healing and repairing during the first 3 hours of sleep, so I like to know those awesome ingredients are on my skin doing their magic at that time.

A nice touch to the toner is the nice, subtle scent that's kind of floral and sweet.

Some of the key ingredients (and their skin benefits) in the Hydrating Toner include:

Aloe Vera: Aloe is soothing, incredible for inflamed, irritated skin. It's also helpful for wrinkles and aging. It helps hydrate skin and is a natural antibacterial, anti-fungal.

Alpha Lipoic Acid:  Could have the ability to prevent one of the key enzymes (tyrosinase ) in pigment production, so this is another ingredient in the Foaming Facial Cleanser that can help reduce spots and marks. Alpha Lipoic Acid is an anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant that is very effective in preventing aging signs. To learn exactly how ALA does this (very interesting) you can learn here. It's known for improving skin's tone and texture.

DMAE:  (Dimethylaminoethanol) helps combat aging signs. DMAE is a natural anti-inflammatory and a "membrane stabilizer." Prevents sagging of muscles. Studies on DMAE have shown that the benefits do not fail to continue increasing as you continue to use DMAE. This is fantastic! DMAE in the form of a lotion is said to have immediately noticeable results.

Vitamin C ester:  Ester works similarly to Vitamin C when applied topically to the skin. It's good for moisturizing and softening skin.

Vitamin C plays a big role in collagen products by increasing collagen in skin. It's also a great antioxidant & exfoliator that helps remove or reduce brown spots, scars, other marks/spots from age, damage etc. Vitamin C can help protect skin against the harm of UV rays (not sufficient as a sunscreen alone, though). Protects against UV damages (such as wrinkles, lines), reduce free radicals and improves skin tone/texture. I read that applying Vitamin C, topically, can be 20 times as effective for your skin as taking it internally. I'm not saying you'll get the same benefits elsewhere in the body by applying it topically. I'm saying for skin concerns alone, applying it directly to skin will accelerate effect/results. "Studies show that, when applied to the skin, L-ascorbic acid stimulates collagen synthesis."

Tocotrienol: Tocotrienols  have the ability to penetrate skin (and rapidly, too), so unlike a lot of potentially beneficial ingredients, these can get in there and do their job instead of just hanging out on top of your skin. They are antioxidants and prevent damage from free radicals (UV rays), which in turn prevents wrinkles, skin damage caused by oxidative rays. They neutralize free radicals.

Peptides: Rejuvenate skin. Helps reduce wrinkles. It's said to be as effective against wrinkles as retinol, but this peptide isn't as irritating to skin. It stimulates skin synthesis, can repair skin damage from sun, anti-aging.

Sodium PCA: (Pyrolidone carbonic acid). Sodium PCA binds moisture to cells and delivers moisture to skin, which just goes to show that NutriBiotics know how to create a butt-kicking, anti-aging and hydrating skincare product.

PCA contains antioxidants, so tihs is one more antioxidant ingredient in the Toner that aids in fighting free radicals, which obviously anti-ages our skin.

Grapefruit Seed Extract: Also an anti-fungal, anti-bacterial. It's rich in Vitamin C and E, is an antioxidant, acts as a natural preservative, prevents or can help treat many skin issues, promotes skin elasticity, etc.

Note: Most of these key ingredients in the Hydrating Toner are also ingredients in the Foaming Face wash, so that's something else for me to love. I can have all these lovely ingredients while washing my face, but can also leave them on my face to work by using the Hydrating Toner after I've rinsed away the Foaming Face wash.

Here are all the ingredients in the Hydrating Toner:

A botanical infusion of echinacea, green tea, cucumber, papaya, arnica, white tea, lavender, chamomile, and calendula in purified water; aloe vera gel; palmitoyl pentapeptide-3; acetyl hexapeptide-3; panthenol (vitamin B5); grapefruit seed extract; ascorbyl palmitate (vitamin C); allantoin; DMAE; alpha lipoic acid; glycerin; tocotrienol (vitamin E); sodium PCA; citric acid; polysorbate-20; phenoxyethanol; ethyl hexyl glycerin; natural fragrance.
