Folli-Cleanse Shampoo

This bottle I'm showing you happens to be My Pearl Of The Day called Follicleanse shampoo. It's not just your typical shampoo, though. Follicleanse is a deep-cleaning shampoo, and I'm going to share with you the special benefits that come along with using it on your lovely locks.

When I say deep-cleaning, I'm talking about dirty, oil and other hair build-up. Follicleanse shampoo cleans deeply and removes this stuff, while also reducing oil production from sebaceous glands -- can anybody say heck yea! That is a big perk for me because due to my daily flat-ironing and bleaching regularly, I only wash my hair every other day so that it's not extremely damaged. Someone like me who skips a night of washing needs a shampoo that will keep the oil under control until the next wash.

Follicleanse removes impurities from the hair and scalp, so it's ideal for those who have oil build up or other issues including scalp irritation since Follicleanse contains safe, natural ingredients and has anti-inflammatory properties. It's even safe for use on children. Since several of the ingredients prevent hair loss and promote growth, I would say it's absolutely worth a try for those concerned with hair loss. Their website says that it can also remove sebum "plugs," which is a big cause for hair not growing well. It can also remove cholesterol, which "can cause a hardened plug that clogs the follicle opening." Yikes! I never knew you could have cholesterol clogs in your hair too! Very interesting.

It's also said to reduce red scalp, itchiness, flakes, dandruff and the like.
Follicleanse also increases blood flow to the scalp and helps prevent DHT accumulation. And another huge perk -- Follicleanse is paraben free! It's also said to help with dandruff, but I can't totally say for sure if it's wonderful for that particular condition. I'll discuss my own experience with using Follicleanse in a moment. Be patient, my grasshoppers!

Back up a second. What is DHT? Well, besides DHT is an abbreviation for the male hormone  Dihydrotestosterone. What do male hormones have to do with your hair? Well, DHT is the main cause of hair loss in men and women. See, when I first heard of DHT and it's relation to hair loss, I was and remain a little confused about the details of DHT and how it's formed, but a website called Belgraviacentre sums things up nicely, " It’s (DHT) formed primarily in the prostate gland, testes, adrenal glands and hair follicles and interestingly, though it is important in early stages of development, DHT can have serious negative effects in adult life. However, there are clinically proven medications that work to address the effects of DHT, like hair loss."

Most of us know good, deep-cleaning shampoos are likely to be damaging/harsh on the hair and scalp, but Follicleanse is  gentle because it does not contain chemicals, and judging by my two-three week experience using Follicleanse so far, I'd say that's very true, Follicleanse is one of the more gentle yet deep-cleaning shampoos I've used.

Another huge perk: Follicleanse is certified organic by the state of California! A very important feature in any product you use.

Ingredients in Follicleanse:
Water, Laureth Sulfate from coconut, Olefin sulfate, thyme, sage, fenugreek, ivy burdock, zinc pca, panthenol.

Note the ingredient Laureth Sulfate from coconut. That's good! Coconut has some wonderful benefits externally and internally, but no, you cannot drink the shampoo. When I say internally I'm speaking of ingesting coconuts meant for consumption, so don't get me wrong there.

Some of the other ingredients like thyme, also have benefits for the hair. Thyme  has been used to help thinning hair, slowing hair loss and promoting growth.

Some Fenugreek's benefits include: help with hair loss, anti-inflammatory, great when used in a home remedy for skin infections due to it's powerful redness/pain reducing, and anti-inflammator properties. Used to help with problems such as eczema, gout, other infections, abscess, sunburn, etc. Helps prevent dandruff when the Fenugreek seeds are crushed and made into a paste, then left on scalp and hair for 20 minutes. It will also aid in hair growth when done this way. Benefits work for men & women.

Laureth Sulfate from Coconut: Cleanses, removes dirt and oil very well.

Olefin Sulfate: Loosens dirt and debris.

Ivy Burdock: Also helpful for hair loss! How awesome, almost every ingredient has properties that help with hair loss, so this would have to be my go-to if I had that issue, and since I'm using and loving Follicleanse at the age of only 22 (I'm a spring chee-kin!) perhaps this would be a huge help in preventing hair loss in the future. I do shed a lot. Really. The other day I was wearin' a black top and my dad said "good lord! Look at the cat hair on your back. There's soooo much!" I was like "yea, that's not cat hair, that's Kendra hair!" I mean I shed like a dog in the spring. I am actually shedding more hair right now than my cat does. It only happens while I'm flat ironing though, not much while washing. It seems to be a spell that sort of came on at the beginning of fall -- oh my God, I'm half cat, ain't I? Breakthrough! Moving on. We were discussing the wonders of Follicleanse and the even more wonderful ingredients... Oh yea, Ivy Burdock also helps oily hair. It stimulates blood flow to the root of the hair, and helps cell renewal. Awesome!

Sage: Helps with hair loss and excess sebum. Sage is a natural antiseptic & deodorant! Sage has many more mind-blowin' properties, but were going to focus on its benefits for the hair.

Zinc PCA: Stimulates hair follicles (which would definitely help with hair growth.) Also helps with oily hair! It regulates sebaceous glands, and is also great for acne, so for those of you who tend to get breakouts on your forehead from the shampoo you use (happens to the 12 year old in my house) or from having bangs, wearin' a hat, etc., this shampoo would even be beneficial in that area. Zinc PCA also cleans deep down the hair, all the way to the shaft and can be very helpful for scalp issues such as inflammation, psoriasis, itchiness, dandruff, etc.

Panthenol: Strengthens hair, reduces split ends, leaves hair looking healthier, shinier and thicker. I can attest to this because my hair has seemed thicker since I've used Follicleanse the past few weeks!

Follicleanse comes in an 8oz transparent bottle. It does arrive with a safety seal thingy. Like all shampoo, you simply press down on one side of the lid and it snaps open. Squeeze the bottle and catch a quarter sized amount into the palm and then apply to damp hair. It's a great idea to massage well into the scalp if you are using Follicleanse to help with hair loss, promote hair growth and/or reduce scalp issues like itchiness and dandruff.

The shampoo has a green tint to it and has very, very subtle aroma. I don't even have words to describe the aroma. It's not very smelly and that is likely because it doesn't contain all sorts of artificial (usually harmful!) fragrances. I notice some smell, but have no idea what it is or how to describe it. I'm sure it's the scent of some of the herbs like fenugreek or something.

And to put the icing on the cake, Follicleanse has a full 30-day money back guarantee.

If you asked me to rate Follicleanse Shampoo on a 1-10 scale (10 being the best of course) I would rate it a 10 performance and quality wise, especially considering the effective, healthy, beneficial and safe ingredients used. Follicleanse certainly knew what they were doing when they put together this shampoo! So many of the ingredients have properties that help with hair loss, promote hair growth and reduce excess oil. I love that it keeps my hair so clean and not oily, which my hair would be very oily on my evening before I was again (remember, I skip a night so I don't over-do the damage?)

If you asked me would I recommend Follicleanse I would say yes! Without a doubt. And to who? Everybody, really. Since it's so safe, it can be used on children, I have to say there's no harm in trying it at all. It's a much, much, much better alternative to your typical shampoo. It foams and spreads just as easily, if not easier (some natural shampoos do not foam, and that makes them a bit hard to work with). It will not harm your hair and helps with so many scalp and hair issues that it would likely benefit every single person who used it in one way or another.

As for people who are looking for a product to help with hair loss and to promote hair growth, I would recommend nothing but Follicleanse. I've used a few other "hair growth" shampoos, one being a pretty popular brand I think, and it so obviously did not do anything to help my hair grow and I truly didn't feel that my hair was benefitting from it.

My last hair cut was at the end of the summer. I keep my hair in a short style where the length in back is an inch or two above my neck line and the front falls about midways between my chin and shoulders. It did not occur to me that Follicleanse may be to blame for my desperate need of a hair cut until today! You see, for two whole weeks now, my hair has been so long (past my shoulders right now!) that I've just been pony-tailing it (rare!) for two entire weeks. I wore it down for the first time in two weeks today and at this particular length, it's annoying because it sort of crunches up betwen my shoulders, if that makes sense. I finally gave up and began pulling it up, saying "I'm going to have to get this mess cut! My hair has not been this long in years!" to my lovie when it ocurred to me that Follicleanse may actually be making my hair grow quicker than it has before! I have been getting this exact same hair style/cut 3-4 times a year since my high school days, so I'm pretty on-schedule when it comes to knowing my hair lengths. I usually don't get to the point of having to pony-tail it at this point. I would say Follicleanse is contributing to my hair growth. Like I said, I've been using it for every wash about 3 weeks now. So there's no telling how well someone's receding hair line could improve in a few months time using this stuff.

As for the dandruff and redness or itching, I personally haven't had any itching that I've noticed. I don't usually though, but given it's winter and 29-30 degrees all week long here, it's very common to have some flakes or itching. I noticed a few tee-tiny flecks of either ashes or flakey skin tonight, but none that were very noticeable. I flat iron my hair and tonight is my skipped washing night, so this could be why I only noticed a few small flecks tonight and no other day during the week. But no actual noticeable dandruff, so it's good for that.

Well, I've about drawn this out as long as I need to. I like to give as much information as possible, so please forgive me if I'm overly lengthy. If I have left you guys with questions about Follicleanse, do not hesitate to let me know! I enjoy ya'll's emails and if someone happened to want me to update after another couple of weeks, I'll be more than happy to! Also, if I've not answered a question about the product, Follicleanse has great customer service.
