Pina Colada Fruit & Herbal Infusions

PINA COLADA FRUIT INFUSIONS

Origin: Germany

Ingredients: APPLE PIECES, HIBISCUS, ROSE HIP, PINEAPPLE, SHREDDED COCONUT, SUGAR, NATURAL FLAVORS
1.75 OZ
The fruit teas are pure fruit, consists of dried fruit pieces and natural flavoring. Since the fruit teas don't contain actual tea, they are caffeine free.

Instructions for a hot glass of Pina Colada tea:

Add 1-2 teaspoons of leaves to strainer & steep for 3 minutes in approximately 8-10 ounces of water.

Instructions for a glass of Iced Pina Colada tea (1 LITER):

Add 6 teaspoons of tea in heat resistant pitcher. Add 2 cups freshly boiled water. Steep 5 minutes. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with ice water. Add steeped tea and then fill with ice water. Sweeten if desired.
I personally think it tastes fabulous with 3 packets of sugar and ice cubes added. It's delicious after setting in the freezer for 5 minutes too, but I don't know if being in the freezer for certain time periods could affect the health benefits or not, so only a few minutes is enough to make it super cold and good.

One of the ingredients in the Pina Colada Fruit Infusion "tea" is Hibiscus, so I'll start by briefing you on the benefits of the hibiscus ingredient.

Hibiscus helps remove excess fluids from the body. So if you drink a glass of Pina Colada tea and notice you're urinating a tad more, think twice before buying the pregnancy test. I'm only kidding there, but the ingredient Hibiscus will help remove the excess fluids, which is why people use hibiscus tea to aid in weight loss -- kind of like a diuretic. Hibiscus is also good for quenching thirst.

Studies show that Hibiscus is effective for reducing blood pressure. It's also an antioxidant, which means a lot of great benefits such as anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and better health in general.

Hibiscus aids in weight loss (again) because it contains a substance that can inhibit the production of amylase, an enzyme found in the body that breaks down complex sugar and starch molecules in food. In other words, consuming Hibiscus can mean reduction of excess weight gain.

Hibiscus flowers contain ascorbic acid (a form of vitamin C), making the teas that contain Hibiscus good for coughs, other infections, respiratory problems, inflammation, etc.

Also, since Hibiscus has the ability to cool down the body, it has been used to reduce fevers.

And my favorite part: Hibiscus contians calcium (something I am terribly, dangerously deficient in), protein, phosphorous, carotene, iron, thiamine, niacin, riboflavin.

The apple, pineapple and shredded coconut pieces in the Pina Colada tea serve mostly the purpose of adding flavor (I think). It is tasty and adds extra to the taste in my opinion. The taste is an awesome, smooth tropical flavor. A very unique cup of tea! And a perfect little way to make me feel like I'm back at the beach, which I miss terribly. It's only been 2 days since I came home from our trip and a cup of this makes me want to go back even more.

Rose Hip
The Pina Colada Fruit Infusion tea contains a beneficial herb called Rose Hip. Rose Hips have an even greater concentration of Vitamin C than citrus!

People with arthritis, degenerative joint disease and similar conditions may find relief in teas that contain Rose Hip(s) since they contain high amounts of antioxidants and Vitamins A, B1, B2, E, K, Beta Carotene and Bioflavanoids.

Rose Hips contain pectin, which helps with digestion by "binding" the  material in the intestines together and then removing it. It is possible that Rose Hip and teas that contain it may ease discomfort from UTI's and diarrhea.

The phytochemicals in Rose Hips may help fight against cancer and cardiovascular disease.

The Pina Colada and Egyptian Camomile Herbal Teas (as well as a whole load of awesome other teas to choose from) can be found and purchased at  Teaz LLC.
EGYPTIAN CAMOMILE HERBAL INFUSIONS
Herbal infusion tea
Origin: Egypt
Ingredients: Chamomile flowers.

Benefits include:
Relief  from  stomach cramps, insomnia, irritable bowel syndrom, migraines, PMS. Can be applied to skin to treat minor scraps, burns as well as lighten the skin. Reduces dark eye circles. Possibly helpful for mouth ulcers. Great for anxiety as well as menstrual-related anxiety/emotions. I say that because back a few years ago when I was still in my stomach problem crisis (before I was diagnosed with IBS & endometriosis, at the time we were still clueless as to why I was severely ill) I started trying camomile tea occasionally when my menstrual cycle came around and was so severe that I couldn't even leave home. I'd make a quick run to our local gas station at midnight for their camomile tea packets! It would calm my crazed moods, anxiety, upset stomach, cramps, and IBS symptoms. I remember being so desperate back then. Of course the gas station camomile is not near as good as something you find from a company like I Love Teaz. Looking back, the taste wasn't pleasant like this Herbal Egyptian Camomile tea. Nothing like it. It was hard to swallow in fact. I actually enjoy the Egyptian Camomile though. Of course I need me some good ol' sugar packets, but it's calming and I really enjoy drinking it.

 Camomile has anti-inflammatory properties.

Side effects: May cause drowsiness, so do not operate moto vehicles or machinery after consuming and do not consume if allergic to ragweed, other plants in the daisy family, pollen or have hay fever!

It's true. The camomile in Egyptian Camomile tea will definitely slow you down some, if not make you downright ready to hit the sack. It depends on my energy levels and how much rest I've had, but this Egyptian Camomile Tea is perfect for me on a day when my emotions are wide open. OK, what I really mean is on a day when my crazy is really showing through. Ha. Ha. Some days I'm just stressed to the max and it makes me crazy. I'll be up & down -- a roller coaster of emotions and then comes the migraine! This often happens around my "cycle" due to the horrofic curse of a period I was given. & another thing that I liked about the Egyptian Camomile tea -- trip home from Panama City. That should say it all. We actually just got home from Panama 2 days ago and we were all feeling so sluggish and restless really. The long 8 hour drive home and just the exhaustion period made the past 2 days rough. It also hasn't helped that my dad and I both ended up with a pretty rough case of sun poisioning and my Lovie had a tad of it as well. It had us three drained though!
So last night after being in that weird tired-but-anxious mindset, I tried drinking a small amount of Egyptian Camomile. I felt magnificent today! I've been going since 12 PM and it's now almost midnight! I've even managed to go and get my injection (for relief from the endo/IBS symptoms) and normally that shot makes me freaking crazy. I'm a wreck and usually, a nap is absolutely necessary in order for me to go on about my day and be normal. It makes me so weird the first day I get the injection. Lots of crazy feelings and severe mood swings. Severe! For the first time in years I've not even needed my regular nap after the injection. I know some of it is due to getting great sleep after the camomile and pure exhaustion, but it definitely helped some. It seemed to have kept my nerves and crazy mood swings totally calm. Those mood swings have actually been non-existant today, but then again, it's only midnight. You never know. Ha. Ha.

So the Egyptian Camomile is amazing for you travelers. When you first make it back home, trying to get settled back in and get back on your regular schedule, but still have that jet-laggy like feeling only you can't seem to get some good, deep rest, Egyptian Camomile is your BFF.

Insomniacs, Egyptian Camomile could also become your BFF. It's worth a shot. I thankfully don't have too much trouble getting to sleep and staying there, but for those of you with trouble during sleep, this tea is so worth a shot.

And for those of you who can't seem to ever stop thinking. You know, when you're mind refuses to stop, but your body already has? Egyptian Camomile, my friend. It'll calm you. It calms those last minute stresses you get right as you're trying to go to sleep. Then suddenly you've a million things you finally remembered that you were supposed to do. This is a huge help in relaxing the thinker.

And then there are some who will just plain pass out after a cup of Egyptian Camomile Tea. If I was already running on little sleep, this would so happen to me. But it's that wonderfully relaxed feeling, one most of us rarely get.

Lighten skin
Camomile (used topically) is said to lighten the skin. I have never tried this, but just a few days ago, while on the beach, my sister had this sudden desperation to lighten an area of skin on her face. I recommended lemon juice and peroxide because I'd actually never heard of using camomile! Had I known this, I'd have gotten her to try using the tea on her skin. At least as a little test-run. I think I'll try getting her to use this Egyptian Camomile tea on the skin she wants lightened. It'll at least be an interesting experiment, and since the tea's ingredients is camomile flowers, it should work! Just an interesting bit I wanted to share though.
