Ya'll my know that a good fragrance is something I hold very dear to my heart. So I was looking into new fragrances, something different from my everyday scents, which are pretty similar to each other. I wanted to try out something totally different. So I found several fragrances that really stood out to me from the lovely Penhaligon's. I want to share my experiences with the different samples of Penhaligon's perfume I ended up with.

This particular one is Verveine Here's Penhaligon's marvelous description:
"Originally created in 1949, Eau de Verveine is a grassy aromatic, with citrus and woods. The scent of an Indian Summer, shimmering heat haze, soft metallics, crumbled herbs, spices, musk and vanilla. In the distance echoes the evocative promise of rain.
Eau de Verveine was originally created in 1949 and has been resurrected as part of our 2009 Anthology Collection."
"Our fine fragrances are made in England using the finest rare ingredients; from hand-squeezed bergamot, to jasmine at twice the price of gold. Our signature Penhaligon’s fragrance bottle is to William Penhaligon's original design: clear glass with a distinctive ribbon-wrapped top."
The way Verveine smells to me & when mixed with my own skin's chemicals:
My very first impression of Verveine smelling it directly from the bottle was 'cleaning product.' Immediately after applying it on my wrist, that lemony-herby cleaning scent faded and it turned warm and cologne-like with subtle notes of pepper. The scent on my skin really reminds me of Old Spice.
The dry down is really a manly scent. This I think is mostly for men and it's certainly not the feminine kind of scent I prefer on myself. It has a citrusy, spicy and warm scent. And like I said, very, very Old Spice.
After applying Verveine to my wrist, I no longer notice the scent after about an hour. Adding more would make it last longer, but it's somewhat strong.
If you walked near me, you'd get a whiff of the cologne. You don't need to be up close, but it's not something that'll knock you down or cause your head to spin just from being near it or wearing it. It doesn't smell overpowering to me and the strength really fades to a sweeter, less noticeable one after a good few minutes.
The coriander is noticeable in the very beginning and it fades a lot mid-wear.
Words that come to mind when I smell Verveine:
Old spice. Lemon. Lime. Manly. Bitter at first, then sweet on my skin. Almost baby powderish at the dry down stage. Not very lemon-verbena like I'd expected. Clean. Maybe slightly cedar-ish. I can't be sure, but I do think cedar at times.
