WAYS TO MAKE YOUR EVERYDAY PRODUCTS LAST LONGER & SAVE YOU MONEY.
In times like these we are always looking for ways to spend less. I have found quite a few ways to spend less and make those every day products last a lot longer. Here are some tips:
Foundation -
Foundation products as well as most beauty & cosmetics are a little pricey especially considering they run out in a month's time. To make your liquid foundation last a few extra weeks you can add a facial moisturizer like olay or aveeno. It can be any unscented (or scented if you prefer) moisturizer. Just grab your facial moisturizer & add a little to your foundation. I squirt the foundation onto the back of my hand & add about the same amount of moisturizer as foundation then mix it with my finger. If you want more coverage just add less moisturizer. Mix it with your foundation on the back of your hand, then apply as you normally do. Another good thing about this, now, your face will be moisturized too! That's always a plus since moisturizing means anti aging & anti drying.
Perfume -
Perfume is usually pretty pricey too. I use nollie. It smells amazing & it's very wallet friendly! When you start running low on perfume, add a little water to the bottle it doesn't lessen the scent but it will certainly give you an extra few weeks with your perfume & that will end up saving you tons! If you wear perfume regularly this is a great tip. I've been doing this for years and it never fails me! You can add as much water as you want just don't fill the entire bottle with water because that would probably dilute the perfume smell some. This also works great if your perfume is too strong & you need to tone it down some.
Shampoo -
This is probably a tip that you have used in the past. When you go to wash your hair & you realize the bottle is empty, you add water and shake it up to get the excess shampoo out. Well, what I do is: I get a soap dispenser. You can use an empty hand soap dispenser. Just make sure the contents are empty. Then fill the soap dispenser up a little over half way with your regular shampoo. Then add water. I fill half with shampoo and half with water. Since the water makes it foamy, you use half as much as normally and still get the exact same results as if you used a regular palm full of shampoo. Keep the bottle of shampoo in a drawer or some other place & keep the shampoo with water in your shower. This way, you can fill it back up when you run out. I have made my shampoo last an extra 6 months doing this!! It's amazing! Also, you're supposed to wash your hair every other day. I like to wash mine everyday but your hair doesnt get dirty only skipping one day, so you can also skip a day and that saves a lot too.
Swap your store bought exfolliant for corn meal -
Corn meal is an amazing exfolliant and to be honest, I like the results much better than any store bought exfolliant. I have posted instructions for using corn meal as an exfolliant in earlier posts. If you would like to know how or more about it, e-mail me or leave a comment and I'll send you the entire info.
Use tea tree oil instead of dandruff shampoo -
Dandruff shampoo for many, is a must but it can also get expensive. Instead, try buying a bottle of 100% pure tea tree oil. You can get it at any herb shop or online for around $5.00 - $8.00 that may sound pricey but I have a small bottle that I use everyday & it has lasted 6 years! It works great on everything. If you want to know more about how to use this or more info on it email me or leave a comment.
Swap your regular facial cleanser every 3 days for lemon peel or pulp -
Doing this every few days or more will save on facial cleanser and money. You can use the lemon peel or actual pulp or even lemonade as a facial cleanser. I only use this. I don't even use a store bought facial cleanser anymore. Just wash your face with this the same way you would if you were using your regular cleanser. Only be sure to leave it on for about 10 - 15 minutes, then rinse. I keep a small container with lemon juice in it. You can get these containers in the travel section at wal mart. People use them to put shampoo and lotion in to take on trips. Theyre about 50 cents each. You can use a cup too. I keep it in my shower containing lemon juice and when I first start my shower this is the first thing I do. Then by the time I'm done with my shower it's time to rinse. This allows it to stay on yoru face long enough to work. And sometimes, I add tomato pulp too. It's a great cleanser and exfolliant. So is lemon.
