Mila

Great news! I have finally been trying Mila and I want to share about it with you guys. I know a couple of you eat chia seeds as I did, so this is an interesting change from the typical store-bought chia seeds. So, I'm going to explain some of the many health benefits and my experience with Mila.

This is the back of the bag of Lifemax's Mila seeds. It has the nutrition facts and other information.

A closer look at the back of the bag -- the description says "Mila is a proprietary selection of Salvia hispanica L. -- a unique beneficial seed, classified as a food by the FDA and backed by over 30 years of scientific and agricultural research. Mila contains the highest levels of nutritional components, including omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants aand phytonutrients. As an added benefit, Mila is gluten-free, trans-fat-free, sugar-free and is high in fiber and protein. Mila can be deliciously combined with a variety of foods and its supreme biological properties are not diminished by heat in the cooking process. Mila is the world's healthiest whole raw food!"

I am particularly appreciative of all the information included on the Mila seed bag, since the company LifeMax has not left any information out. It also tells the ingredients, which are 100% natural whole raw chia seed.

It also includes the suggested use: 2 tablespoons (one 13 gram scoop) a day. And it gives suggestions of a few ways to use the Mila -- in smoothies, beverages, cereal, salads, yogurt, and your favorite recipes!

I actually think Mila taste pretty nice and is kind of satisfying even by itself, not mixed into anything, but it really does add something nice to salads and milkshakes and cereal! I notice that with one scoop of Mila, it seems that it's more satisfying, especially if I'm drinking a shake or eating something light, the mixed in Mila makes it more filling.

Mila also adds more of a texture (I guess you would call it) to something like yogurt that is otherwise bland.

These are a couple of photos (above) of the Mila seed & the scooper it comes with, which is really handy because you can just open the bag, get a scoop and add it to your food, drink, etc. without having to get a spoon or meausure things out. This also makes it easy to take on the go.

If you can see in the pictures, the seeds aren't whole seeds, they are crushed I think. They're easy to eat or drink this way. I've tried chia seeds (whole) and they get stuck all in my teeth, impossibly, and when the chia seed gets wet, it'll get this gel-like coating on it & it is annoying to have those stuck in my teeth. They feel like tiny ticks! Ha. Ha. So I was even more fond of Mila since they don't do that.

I had been eating chia seeds for a while and read about the benefits of the Mila, which had me interested and wanting to try them. From what I have read, Mila may have even more health benefits than chia. I've been eating them for about a week now, 2 scoops daily, as recommended.

The seed has been used for centuries to increase performance ability. Apparently, Ancient Aztec warriors sometimes survived on a handful of Mila during battles. Mila is a whole, raw and natural source of Omega 3 fatty acids, antioxidants and phytonutrients . It is a superior plant-based source of protein and fiber. It's also gluten-free, so people who are gluten sensitive. It's also sugar free and non-GMO.

Mila has 5 times more protein per gram than kidney beans (per gram.) It has 9 times more phosphorous than whole milk, 8 times more Omega-3's than salmon, 3 times more iron than spinach. In my opinion, that is amazing.

Benefits
- Mila has Omega-3's and Omega-6's.
- Mila increases the formation of lean muscle mass.
- Optimizes physical ability & mental focus.
- Boosts brain power
- Helps with hydration, endurance and recovery.

- Promotes the formation of mineralization of bones. This is one reason I became interested in eating chia seeds because  I have been on medication that causes bone loss. I was also experiencing teeth issues & learned that I was in need of things like extra calcium and omegas to help with these things. Especially since I don't eat much foods that contain omegas.

- Mila is great for bone health. It's also rich in magnesium, iron, which are also important for the utilization of calcium by the body.

- Increases energy.

- Heart healthy.

-Anti-aging.

- Increase flexibility of cell membranes, which allows for improved nutrient transport.

- Heightens focus.

- Mila is contains high levels of tryptophan -- an amino acid that supresses apetite.

- Mila can also lower high blood pressure and has a vasodilatory effect by increasing the size of the arteries, and can also help unclog arteries.

- It's also beneficial for gastrointestinal issues -- something I deal with. Mila aids in digestion and helps control excess acid, which can decrease heartburn. It can help prevent diverticulitis.
