Modernista Dress

                                 Modernista Dress from Eden Fantasys

My apologies for the way the photos are set up. Blogger doesn't give many options!

This is the Modernista Dress, a sexy, sleek and classy black bandage dress. If you look at the photos, you can tell its a bandage dress by all the stripes. It's basically large chunks of elastic running this way and that, and all sewed up together to create one big ol' dress.

Other than those elastic-y bandage strips, there are a few mesh blocks, which are see-through, and if you look at my  photos you can see that. In the photo above, of my back, you can see the two side-by-side mesh strips on either side of the zipper (upper back.)

And here you see the mesh, see-through area right at my rib-cage, and again a small triangle of mesh at the middle of my chest. This wasn't the best placement for a see-through material, but on my figure, it works without showing my breasts. If it ever becomes an issue or if I wanted to wear this without showing skin, a black strapless bra will fix that. You may also notice that the "bandage" strips are going in a criss-cross ("X") across the bust.

Notice the lines of "bandages." Most are straight across, except the two in the midde of my back that make a "V". I think this is a flattering part of the design!

Cut/Style

The Modernista Dress has a pencil-skirt to it, and is pretty much a simple, straight across, straight down cut. The chest is cut really high up, which was strange to me. I was super happy about the length though. It's plenty long enough for wearing in public whereas most of the dresses from lingerie places are way too short and inappropriate for outside-the-house wear.

The straps are adjustable and removeable.

The inner edge around the entire bust, at the top, is lined with a glue-y strip, to help hold it up, so going strapless is secure, especially considering how constricting the entire dress is, including the top portion. It smashes!

The zipper detail going all the way down the back of the dress is really a cute little addition, to me. I don't know why I like the zipper on this. It's just a zipper! But for some reason, it adds a little something more appealing, to me. I love the quality of that heavy-duty zipper too! No sticking, it's thick and larger than most dress zippers. It is cold against my warm skin, though when the cool air hits or I just put it on. No worries, the zipper doesn't fall down or work its way un-done. It stays put, just like a good zippper should.

Material

The Modernista Dress is made of  88% Polyester & 12% Spandex. It's made in China.

Cleaning & Care:  Hand wash only. Hang to dry. The Modernista dress comes with a plastic bag over it, so you can place it on a hanger and slip that plastic cover back over it for extra protection in your closet, if you wish.

This dress is really thick and incredibly stiff. Upon first getting it, the first things I noticed were the stiffness (due to the bandage material) and the heaviness. These are pretty uncomfortable qualities in a dress, and I don't think it'll be comfortable during hot weather. However, it is good quality, craftsmanship, durable and well made.

Dress' Measurements

Size small.

Length: 31"
Waist: 14"
Hip: 15"
Hem: 15"
Bust: 12"

*The 31" length makes this nice and long on my short self. Even taller women should find the length enough for bending, sitting and moving around without the worry of exposing yourself.

My Measurements

Bust: 32"
Cup: A on left, small C on right.
Jean/shorts/size: Zero
Weight: 93lbs
Height: 5 2"
Waist: 26" Lower waist. Where I'm a bit wider, the love handle area: 29"

Size Chart for the Modernista Dress

Size small will fit a size 2-6 with an A-B cup, a 32"-34" bust, 24"-26" waist, 34"-36" hip. The weight listed on the size chart for this dress says 90-120 pounds.

* I'm 94 pounds and I have to say, I'm hesitant about believing that it would fit a 120 pound person. It could, but it would be even more uncomfortable, and depending on your measurements, may not zip. I used to be nearly 120 pounds and could not picture this ever fitting me back then, at that weight, so keep these things in mind when considering the Modernista Dress.

Fit & Comfort

To me, this is one hell of an uncomfortable dress. It's one of those garments I want to peel off as soon as I have it on. It is so constricting due to the thick spandex bandages. Another thing, when I first put it on, before it was broken into a little, the way the bandages are placed on my rear caused cutting in, and it was noticeable! This is rare for my tiny behiney! So those with thicker rears, beware. I think ordering a size up may even be wise if you want comfort & especially if you fall near the end of the size chart (given above) or are larger than my measurements (given above.)

It's definitely a dress that causes me to get hot & a tad sweaty, which is really rare. When I finally peel it off, I have lines going all across my skin. It isn't so tight that I have trouble breathing in deeply, but just the nature of the material and stiffness makes it do that to my skin. The chest does squish, though!

Packaging

The Modernista Dress comes packaged in a plastic, clear bag. There's a tag with photos of someone wearing it. They can be cut off, if you wanted to gift this.
