Navitas Natural

Hello, hello my health-consious, snack loving, beautiful readers! I want to share a snack product I've had the luxury to be introduced to and try lately. It's Navitas Naturals' items. There are a few I've had and I do want to discuss them all, but I will start with my favorite -- the Cacao Goji Superfood Power Snack.

Below is a photo of the actual Cacao Goji snack. They are a nice size and are so packed with so many different amazing foods, which I will list in a moment. First check out the delicious little guy...

The bite-size Cacao Goji Power Snacks resemble a brownie or oatmeal candy (which is chocolate, peanut butter and oatmeal patties).

The Cacao Goji Power Snacks are just one of the amazing, healthy, organic products from Navitas Naturals and I happen to love them!

"Navitas Naturals Cacao Goji Power Snacks are made from the most nutrient dense functional superfoods including cacao, maca, chia, and camu-camu. We sustainably source the most nutritious, wholesome and delicious ingredients available, and now we’ve combined them into flavorful grab-and-go snacks that you can enjoy anywhere."

You see all those small pieces of "stuff" in the Cacao Goji Power Snack photo? That is the tons of different health foods mixed into one delicious snack. Below, I'm going to do a bullet point list of all the different amazing things in the snack and other important information, so that it's easier to read.

  •  Each Cacao Goji snack contains antioxidants & essential amino acids.
  • Gluten & refined sugar free.
  • USDA Certified Organic, raw and vegan.
  • Contains Cacao, Maca, Chia seeds and Camu Camu. In a moment I'll discuss the benefits of all those.
  • Contains omega fatty acids, polyphenols, iron and fiber.
  • Contains Vitamin A & Vitamin C.

Here's more informational information (nice wording?) I thought would be useful to share from Navitas Naturals' website...

"Cacao is one of nature's most complex superfoods. There are thousands of phytochemicals stored inside each little bean. A rich source of magnesium, Cacao is also loaded with antioxidants and theobromine. Goji Berries contain some rare compounds like germanium -- an important mineral. The red chewy berry also provides protein, fiber, antioxidants and lots of beta carotene."

What's it taste like?

The Cacao Goji Snacks taste like a wide variety of different things in your mouth. My first impression was the chocolatey taste, then I thought I felt a chia seed, so I looked closely at the square and was positive I seen chia seeds in them -- sure enough, it does contain them! I love chia seeds! I usually have a handful of them daily since they're high in omegas and I don't eat fish, so choose to get mine via chia seeds.

I also noticed the goji berry taste. Goji berries have a slightly dried cranberry slash acai taste to me -- both of which I love. There are also oats and what looks like sesame seeds in there that add a little something to the texture.

The 8oz bag of the Cacao Goji snacks comes with about 8 servings.

Benefits

  • Reduces heart disease and cancer.
  • Ingredients like the raw cacao cause "feel-good bliss," and the chemicals in it can boost your mood.
  • Theobromine (the ingredient found in cacao) is a mild stimulant with diuretic effect. This means it helps remove toxins from the body (because diuretics cause you to have to urinate more) and also enhances your mood.
  • Cacao also contains Phenylethylamine -- another mood booster! Phenylethylamine is like a very low antidepressant.
  • Cacao increases serotonin levels, which also gives you a happy-ish, peaceful sense of well being.
So it's definitely safe to say that cacao is pretty good for mood-boosting! However, it also contains calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, potassium and manganese as well as Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C, E and pantothenic acid.

More benefits of Cacao include:
  • Increase blood circulation, which means it may help with headaches and improve focus.
  • Cacao is anti-aging.
  • Reduces cholesterol.

If I went on to include the benefits of every single ingredient, this would get real lengthy! So I will stop here, but do know that the goji berries and chia seeds and other amazing ingredients do have their very own big health benefits!
