If you must, you could pour the warm wax onto your precious partner's body, but if you don't want to go that route, Shunga throws in a little spoon for spooning it out and placing it just where you want it.
Shunga's Massage Candle is a soy based candle with a beautiful vanilla scent. This candle was designed for romantic purposes. The soy bean wax melts in small temperatures so that the wax is warm and won't burn. This makes using the Massage Candle great for body massages as the wax won't burn the skin, but instead is warm. If you have ever used a regular candle for purpose like this, you will really appreciate Shunga's Massage Candle! Since this was designed specifically for using on the body, you don't have to worry about risks like using a regular candle. Plus, you won't be left with a clump of not-so-arousing wax on your back. The soy bean massage candle is luxuriously smooth and moisturizing.
To use the Massage Candle, trim the wick, burn for around 20 minutes until the wax has liquified. One great thing about Shunga's Massage Candle, is it's a slow burn so it will last for a long time. Once your candle has liquified, you can then begin use the cute little plastic spoon included with the candle, to dip some out. You should spoon it into your hand first rather than applying directly to your partner's body just to be sure it's not too warm. Spoon as much as you need out and start rubbing!
The melted candle is oil based making it perfect for an all over body massage. Unlike most massage oils though, this isn't greasy at all. It's extremely moisturizing and will leave the skin so soft and lovely!

Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Coco Nucifera Oil, Fragrance, Prunus Dulcis Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius Oil, Persa Americana Oil, Sesamum Indicum Oil, Vitis Vinifera Oil, Tocopherol.
With at least 45 minutes of burn time and 6.75 fl oz of wax, you'll have more than plenty of time for a long, relaxing body massage. The candle has lasted through a few massages already since we use minimal amounts. To cover my entire backside, we use 3-4 spoon fulls of wax. You can apply more for extreme slipperyness, but we only need a few spoonfuls to make a long massage last.
This isn't like a massage lotion or a massage oil and I find it very different from those darn emollient massage candles. The light, but high quality scent of vanilla is so relaxing. The vanilla scent isn't overly feminine so this could be used by even the most "masculine" of men. When lit, I really can't smell a strong aroma of vanilla in my bedroom, but only light whiffs as I walk past it.
Now a few things that really set this massage candle apart from all other is:
- No mess. You're free to lube up your partner without having to make time for a shower afterward. This is not a messy candle and with the spoon included, there's little chance of this getting anywhere besides on your lovely lover! It doesn't leave a stick, tacky or greasy residue to the body. I do notice a little bit of oil like with any thick massage oil, but it isn't enough to make my clothing stick to my body. It's similar to using a thick cream lotion.
- Light scent is not overpowering. Some of us are very sensitive to scents and this often makes using sensual, sexy products like this impossible. Fear not! Shunga has a light, warm scent of vanilla in this candle that won't irritate or send you sneezing all over your partner's back.
- The extreme moisturization means my partner won't be able to see dry scaley legs! Lol. This is amazing for dry, cracked skin. Shunga's Massage Candles can be used for a foot massage and will heal dry, cracked skin!
- While it doesn't leave you sticky or greasy and won't stain clothing, when you do go to shower, it rinses easily and quickly with soap and water.
The candle comes in a lovley tin with a lid and plastic spoon inside. The can is decorated with erotic japanese painting. It's artistic as most Shunga products are, but not tacky or pornographic. The tin is reusable so once you're candle has been completely used, you can use the lovely tin to store other small things! Unless massage products or the words Erotic Art are embarrassing to you, this is fairly discrete and sits lovely on a shelf. It can also be placed in a drawer if it's solid.
Shunga's Massage Candle is available in Vanilla scent, Fruit scent, Rose scent and Lavendar. Lavendar is a relaxing scent so I believe I'm going to have to try that one as well! :)
